The Veritas Forum
Published on Dec 2, 2015
World-class sociologist of religion, Peter Berger, and New York Times columnist, Ross Douthat, discuss the failure of the secularization hypothesis and what to do now that global modernization has not led to the expected decline of religion at The Veritas Forum at Harvard Divinity School, 2015.

This project and its video production were made possible through the support of a grant from the John Templeton Foundation. The opinions expressed in this publication are those of the presenters and do not necessarily reflect the views of the John Templeton Foundation.

Find this and many other talks at http://www.veritas.org/talks.

For me it is. When I was 5 years old I saw housemaid's underpants under her skirt. Then I was thinking I had seen heaven. Later I have lost my faith. But a vagina makes me a temporary believer.

Superstition will never die out, and it's tied to that.

The connection between the human ability to speak and "religion" is an interesting question.

With human ability to speak started a cognitive revolution started the process of inventing writing, printing press, radio, television, internet...

There was no religions before speaking. With speaking people could explain the world around and form ideas about it. How it works, what kind of forces are acting on it, and why we are here anyway.

And so forth the belief system evolved and writing was invented and rest is just history. ;)

So it goes.

Does Dr. Berger answer the question has g-d have a beard?

Or is is he mere concerned about the cognitive revolution and how proto-religion was evolved?

Give me the time points where there is something meaningful. I ain't gonna watch you videos, no way.

Or tell the message in your own words. ;)
