Fans who descended on an IKEA store to celebrate England’s World Cup win against Sweden have come in for criticism.

Jubilant England fans entered the Swedish-founded store to sing 'It’s Coming Home' and celebrate England’s triumphant quarter-final win on Saturday.
Video footage from inside the store shows fans dancing on beds and singing after England managed to clinch a spot in the semi-finals of the World Cup for the first time in 28 years.

Shop workers inside the store were seen putting their hands over their faces in disbelief while the group ran around.

I suppose that Americans should in the future be prepared for a similar reaction from British football fans at UK McDonald's and KFC locations when the uS World Cup team reaches the quarter finals.
;-)

Tacky, yes, but tame compared to some of the fan "celebrations" that we have seen in the US when various college or professional sports teams have won a championship.

I personally witnessed some of the things that went on in Chicago on the night of June 12, 1991 when a certain player whose middle name is "Jeffrey" led a team that had never gotten past the conference finals to the first installment of its double three-peat.

Damn...that was 27 years ago...I suddenly feel old.

Our fit kids go into numerous other potentially better paying and more popular sports in the US.

Soccer is way down on the 'new blood' list here. Low priority. Far behind football, baseball, and basketball at the least.

I don't ever expect it to reach the same levels as other countries simply because it's not typically a sport our best competitors choose to play professionally.

France 1 Belgium 0. France book their place in the final and a chance of becoming World Champions for a second time.
