Elite is fun enough. They are missing out all the stuff you could do in Frontier back in the day is all. No gas giants, that sort of thing.

I don't require shooting to be going on to be interested.

It's a good game but honestly not my cup of tea, not by long shot.

Personal preferences - trading is boring and repetitive, flying is boring and they chose to make the approach to stations unnecessarily annoying and hands on, not the docking but the whole throttle down, keep the ETA at 6s and so limbo. It got really old really fast while watching literally a black screen (VR or not) with a single orange line for amusement.

But that's just me, I'm more of a strategy and/or story kind of guy.

Harmony Gold’s Case Against Harebrained Schemes Dismissed!

The document, titled “STIPULATION OF DISMISSAL WITH PREJUDICE,” confirms that the judge has dismissed the suit between Harmony Gold and BattleTech creators Harebrained Schemes. The news is fantastic for all BattleTech fans and even better for Harmony Gold haters around the world. By dismissing the charges with prejudice, the judge has effectively barred Harmony Gold from bringing forward a similar case in the future.

Harmony Gold has been a fucking plague.

Good riddance to their use of lawyers as a money making scheme, the filthy trash.

AFAIK they never created anything, and only used their spotty & contested IP licensing to monetarily harass those who did in order to profit. That appears to be the only reason they ever grabbed the licensing; to be able to litigate profit with it.

About time.
By the time I bought the MWO Marauder Pack I was pretty sure this pest was going down, happy to have helped finance that struggle (MWO MAD kicks ass btw. MAD-II-C model with clantech upgrades is among my favourite mechs (bought that pack as well).

I missed giving I source, ran into the good news on Sarna no less:

Kick off day, today.

Looking forward to see how it runs. Bought it last week.

I played this game plenty, back in the day. I still have all my pencil and paper designs stored somewhere. I designed the only mech in existence which uses the 10 Omni engine.

Had it pre-loaded, in Steam, on my desktop computer.

Once again, I still ended up having to download a large chunk of it again today. Dunno why I bother pre-loading the occasional Steam game.

Haven't tried it yet. Aside from my months-long PC gaming apathy, I've begun doing shit around the house while preparing to sell it. Hoping to do some Battletech on my big TV, through Steam Link, while immobilized afterward.

Fun, though what's going on is a bit opaque. Prior Battletech knowledge helpful...

Prior knowledge of the tabletop definitely helps, although there are some small differences.

These tips & UI vids seem to get straight to the point, though. There is also a Steam Community guide explaining more details:

Eck's BattleTech Tactical Combat Guide
