Hey thanks for the responses!

I may have been a little over dramatic when i said the AI cheats. It does seem to get a good rush going at times, and maybe it is because of the settings including having advanced algorithms and random intelligence checked.I don't know as i bought the game at target and there was no manual.

Mind if i ask a few questions of those who played the game for awhile?I don't know what i'm doing wrong but i can't log in on the forums over there to ask.Though i can log in for the store(go figure).

Yes, it does. However, it uses very little resources.

Question folks are asking is whether or not it is a form of malware? I have it on my system, so at this point, I don't believe it is.

Well, when I bought the game all we had to do was register the code & get a login on their site. To up & change their DRM policies to questionable bloatware after it's been out for awhile just plain pisses me the fuck off.

They've gone on my 'don't buy' list. Screw Stardock.

Sorry but i don't know if my questions have been rendered mute by the fact that i finally got Impulse to work properly.I don't know what the version i downloaded changed for the game.

One of the problems i was having with it was how the game resolves combat. It didn't seem to make much sense to me.

One thing i do know is that i'm never buying another game from Target after the non-game related issues i have had with this one and Birth of America. It might not be their fault and could just be coincidence, but i've never had issues like these with two games bought from the same store before.

Okay,i'm still not understanding how the game resolves combat.

Is it researched tech put onto the ships or is it just the numbers?

Meaning that i could have a 12 defense against lasers with shields, but if facing phasors the shields would be less effective,or that if i have a 12 defense it is a 12 defense no matter the tech?

The last two games i have played don't help in understanding this.I'm partial to railgun technology as Terrans. Most alien races do not use it or build defenses against it but when attacking ships with no railgun/mass driver defense and my own ships with defenses higher than the missle/laser weapons that the AI uses i often see my ships doing no damage but recieving high damage in return.
