Dirt cheap game, it's on Humble Bundle out there - I picked it up for free with a monthly package.

It's a homage to the old Wing Commander games. And by homage, I mean, complete ripoff, to the point that the controls are identical. Slightly updated, ie it works with a mouse unlike the originals which require a joystick, aside from that, well, how pretty do spaceships have to be?

Wing Commander happens to be my sweet spot so I rate this probably more than I should. But if there are some other Wing Commander fans out there who might want to give the glory days a shot, check it out.

Quite enjoyed WC Privateer back in the day.

The regular WCs were pretty linear though, weren't they? I hardly remember.

Yup, super linear. Though they had good storylines: excellent ones in fact.

I'm not sure if Eterium holds up there, probably not as much as the legendary Chris Roberts, but it's got the usual tropes here. OTT heroism, WW2 carrier in space stuff.
