WoW is like cocain imo. I know I'd like it, I bet it's awesome and I'd get addicted to it straightway - thus it's something I'm never even going to try. Sometimes it's better to just have no clue what's being missed.

So it goes to same category as indoor flush toilets, televisions, cars, sex and good food.

Been playing since release (2004)

Can't stop. Have tried several times to stop, and and can't do it.

I've resigned myself to the fact i"ll play till the servers come down or I die, whichever comes first.

Played it for about six months, got to level 80, decided the end game bites, quit. It's just too repetitive and, frankly, basic.

So far WITP:AE is winning the addiction stakes. ;)

I just imagined you posting stuff about wow... scary.

I much prefer reading your stuff on WITP:AE.

It seems you share my passion for overly complicated systems, like many people here do.

It's one of the reasons I like this place so much. It's different to the people I know IRL, they are all incompetent twats that couldn't spell their names right if their lives depended on it.
"Oh gosh, are you doing maths? :o how can you do it?"
'just by trying hard until I learn to do it right'
"wow... you're really smart"

at which point I resist the urge to say "and you're not."

It is probably a wargamer trait.

WoW is OK, I did play it for a while, but I don't see how it can be worth playing for years. It's just too repetitive.

And as for its complexity, well, it has a lot of surface complexity but when you actually play it? You get shit like "rotations". I mean, how stupid, how mindnumbingly dull, how ridiculous is that? Your task in WoW is pretty much

press 2
press 3
press 4
press 2
press 5
repeat
Every 3 minutes press 10 after pressing 3

Or some such equivalent.

... thats not a game. Thats a mind control device aimed at turning you into a bot.

That said get away from the lame PvE and there is some fun stuff to be had that is a little more dynamic than repeating the same shit ad nauseam. Unfortunately your forced into the shit too much for my taste.

WoW has over 12 million subscribers all over the world. It must be doing something right.

But I agree, it's not for everybody.

I've not played MMOs much lately.

I think Pirates of the Burning Sea just went free-to-play. FYI.

If I went back anytime soon it would be for some pvp so it'd be either that or Warhammer Online again. However, World of Tanks should be released sometime. I think the damn things been in an open beta stage for 5 months and they're still adding stuff.
