A suitably mocking term.

That said I'm kinda eating my words, Eugen did what they normally do and totally change the balance on release. The Tigers of the Panzer Lehr division are frickin' unstoppable. They were eating my Guards Armoured Division Fireflies for breakfast.

*sigh*

The Wehraboos will always make such a steady keening whine, when it comes to strategy games, until their toys are unstoppable. Of course, you'll never hear them complaining about the slanted quantities they get, or other issues they should suffer but do not.

The Axis Fanboyism just helped me punch out of the WW2 strategy game genre, dropping nearly all of it. Morons.

That's my general plan for all PC games I'm interested in, nowadays.

There are so many games out there, and quite a few that are actually good. So they have to constantly compete with lower prices and/or sales. By the time they get discounted, most of the patching ups & down are done! Win-win with some patience. 8-)

Yeah, and Eugen are pretty good with the discounts. I got into their stuff when Airland Battle was going for £10.

But I bought WRD full price soon as it came out, and the DLCs too, and have not been disappointed. Ditto Steel Division. I don't mind supporting a developer who manages to reliably tickle my happy place.

That said I have been advising those on the fence to wait as I'm pretty sure it'll be on sale before the year is out.

Does it allow for modifying the values? So you can make a rebalance mod.

It's all entirely moddable.

New divisions added, been welded to this again.

4th Armoured Division, they have lighter, faster stuff than the 3rd Armoured who are already in it.

Some new toys just for them, F-5A recon plane which is super fast compared to the Cessna style recon planes they've had up till now, M18 Hellcats, those M8 variants... some awesomely gimmicky divisions too. Like the British Commandos!

The Commandos are super gimmicky. They have no antitank guns at all until the very end of the game, but at the beginning they have lots of awesomely powerful commando infantry.

But unlike most their infantry is super specialised, and you don't get enough of each specialty type to just shovel them in. So you have to use them carefully, making sure you don't take undue casualties, and use their specialty - it's almost like playing Close Combat or something with them.

After the opening 10 minutes, into the skirmish phase, they are really up against it, and you have to cling on desperately until you get massive reinforcements at the end of the game. So the whole feel of playing them is like some sort of recon in force, or paradrop, or something. :)
