Of course the real problem PF2 has is that there are alternatives. if it was 1982 and PF2 came out I'd be all over it. But it's in competition with a lot of other games, most importantly PF1.

It's just a straight downgrade from my point of view, so switching is not going to happen.

Wow, that does sound shitty. :? What the hell were they thinking? It sounds way too wishy-washy.

It's as if the Paizo people decided they wanted to go nuts 4th Edition style.

Your'e right. There are so many tabletop RPGs out there, why settle for something like that?

They really did.

PF2 is to 5th what PF1 is to 3.5. It's not an evolution of PF1, at all. They are clearly looking to repeat the success they had in mooching WotC's players.

The difference is that a) they have a big fanbase of their own now, and b) when PF came out the new Wizards game, ie 4th, was poorly received and that is not the case for 5th.

First game, learning the Arkham Horror LCG.

Gotta many other waiting for attention, with a couple in the periphery here.

Looks like I will stay with PF 1.

I picked up Starfinder awhile back, after some initial hesitation.

Wasn't sure if the wide sci-fantasy thing would be quite to my taste, but the I have a good first impression. Other than the glaring deus ex machina present in the backstory, but that can be adjusted by a GM.

I'm gonna try running a play-by-post forum game of Conan 2d20 sometime after the holidays, over at Grogheads. Would've preferred a lighter and more narrative style RPG but the takers were all stoked for Hyboria (and to a lesser extent the WFRP-inspired Zweihander).
