Thought it was a great flick. Watched it on the plane, and the audio was a bit sketchy so will rent it again.
Kept thinking that Walt was Old Eagle lol!

Hate sad endings though, so that was a bit of bummer.

Saw it ... great flick.

Liked the ending, not what I expected, but I never suss out the endings before hand.

As for the ending, it had to end that way!

Virtues have no color. To suggest as much is the height of folly.

My impression is that its one of those "angry old white man teaches young punk minorities the virtues of being white" kinda film.

Hopefully that isn't true.

One of those what?

I have never seen a movie with that plot. What have I missed?

Also, in my mind, Eastwood is the best director of the last decade or two. His movies have more real human behavior and emotion than anything I've seen without subtitles.

Unforgiven, Mystic River, Million Dollar Baby, Letters from Iwo Jima, The Changeling,

All first rate.

Have not seen Grand Torino yet but his track record is good enough for me to give it a shot.

Both "Letters from Iwo Jima" and "Gran Torino" are in the 'Free with ads' queue at Vudu.com right now.

I just finished watching Letters now....an excellent film.

For those that might not be familiar with Vudu.com, it is a streaming website that features movie and TV content, some of it "free but with ads" and some of it for a charge.

Eastwood is a fantastic director because he picks good actors and good scripts. The guy completely nailed it. I have a lot of Hmong patients in my practice. When the Hmong immigrated to the US the men frequently failed and the women picked up the slack. I am not afraid to say it made my cry is was so incisive. Essentially, the Hmong men were warriors who had no war to fight when they came to the US.

"The Mule" is really fantastic too.
