I once watched Das Boot with English dubbing. It sounded so faul.

I made my wife watch Das Boot (the extended sub-titled version) with me once. I hyped it up so she was all prepped and understood it was one of the "Greatest War Films of All time."

She refers to it as "Das Pain," and any hint that she might ever have to watch it again evokes immediate NO!

The other half really likes Herbert Gronemeyer and said she’d only watch it if he doesn’t die in it.

I got to honestly say, no, he doesn’t die.

She was still traumatised.

Listened to a podcast on Buchheim. Seems to have been a piece of work. Stashed away money and went out of his way not to pay tax in Germany after the war. Managed to get some kind of museum about him built, paid for by the government, i.e. tax funded. Later it turned out he had considerable sums of money from half shady art deals in Eastern Germany. His son (Yves, French mom) hated him, said he had a talent for art (paintings and literature) but was the crappiest father one could have - refused to have anything to do with the father's riches...

Sacrilege! German in English or whatever subtitles is best. Same for Silent Hunter series.

I have seen Band of Brothers dubbed in Czech. Do prdele it was foul.

This prdele is interesting, clearly related to Finnish perkele that is originated from Lithuanian perkunas.

Natural languages are also interesting. ;)
