1965:

While written and initially released by Bob Dylan (also 1965) it was The Byrds version released later that year that took the song to #1 on Billboard 100.

"The BBC initially refused to play the song because of Jones’s sexy image"

1968

It is peculiar that one could have "grown up" with music that was popular during one's actual birth year somehow "embued" into one's psyche, but yep.

I mean, you would think it was more music from 10, 15, even 20 years post birth, but nope.

Weird that I'd consider these (and quite a few other) Billboard Top Hits from 1968 as so permanently in my brain that they go beyond "favorite" and are just sort of permanent background music in my brain ready to replay in full at the mere hint of a note.

That is a good set there Abrad! Are all of those seriously 1936 hits?

Just watched all the preceding ones . . . good stuff! Didn't realize or had forgot the WHO were that old.

Damn Tom Jones was ahead of his time eh! :D

Were they supposed to be hits or 'Music of my birth'?

'The way you look look tonight' is a 1936 recording.

'Why don't you do right' was written in 1936 and I suppose was song by various artists until the recording in 1943.

The other two I cheated, they were in the era into the early 40's.
