Dean Ford, lead singer with the Scottish band Marmalade dies aged 72...

Quote:
Dean Ford, lead singer of the Scottish group Marmalade, has died at the age of 72.

The band, from Glasgow, were best known for reaching number one in 1969 with their cover version of The Beatles "Ob-la-di Ob-la-da".

They had another 10 singles, including "Reflections of My Life" and "Rainbow", both of which Ford wrote.

On Facebook his daughter called him "an amazing man, a gentle soul and extremely talented musician".

Born Thomas McAleese in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, Ford co-founded Marmalade, first known as The Gaylords, in Glasgow in 1961.

Their song I See The Rain was praised by Jimi Hendrix as the "best cut of 1967".

The band went on to become the first Scottish band to have a UK number one hit. To celebrate they appeared on Top of the Pops wearing kilts.

Later that year "Reflections of My Life" made it into the top 10 on both sides of the Atlantic.

The band toured with The Who, duetted with Bobbie Gentry and had six top 10 singles, before Ford quit the band in 1975.

He moved to Los Angeles and became a limousine driver for Michael Jackson and Bob Dylan.

He continued recording and in two months ago he released a 30-track album called "My Scottish Heart".

Bob Einstein, comedian and actor known for 'Curb Your Enthusiasm,' dead at 76

When I first saw the headline I was like...meh......I was no "Curb Your Enthusiasm" fan and can honestly say that I did not recognize the name "Bob Einstein".....but then I started to read the article and......

Damn....this was Super Dave Osborne.

RIP Super Dave. :(

RIP.
I remember him all the way back to Officer Judy on the Smothers Brothers.

https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0251872/?ref_=nv_sr_1

Brother of Albert Brooks. Son of Harry Parke.

Harry went out in a true show biz fashion:
Died at the dais only moments after he had sat down from his comedic presentation at a Lucille Ball/Desi Arnaz Friar's Roast. When Milton Berle, seated next to him, shouted, "Is there a doctor in the house?" the audience laughed, not yet realizing that Berle was serious.
When he slumped down onto Milton Berle's lap after he had the heart attack from which he died moments later, Berle directed crooner Tony Martin to sing, attempting to divert the crowd. Martin's unfortunate song choice was "There's No Tomorrow".

Maybe ABrad remembers Harry Parke's character Parkyakarkus?

I think that my first Super Dave experience was seeing him on Letterman when I was back in college.

Had a frat mate that thought everything Super Dave did was legit (or maybe my frat mate was always too drunk to notice.
