Hot Girls Wanted. Turned on is a documentary on Netflix of which the first season was published recently. Its subject matter is sex and specifically the porn industry. And how modern technology changes it.

In its outcome the documentary is highly critical of the porn industry and modern internet technology. It however does that without wagging a moralizing finger or sensational or hamfisted, opinionated commentary. Quite the contrary, the 50min long episodes are completely without commentary, apart for a very few inserted statistics, but let their subjects talk and unmask themselves. E.g. Bailey Rayne, presumably an adult superstar with being a former Playboy and Penthouse model, needs to work as a stool pigeon for a porn model agency on the side and reveals her talk about empowering, mentoring and protecting young girls starting in "the industry" as completely empty when one of her protégées goes completey off the rails after just a few day as a performer. A Spanish lady who is producing presumably feminist artsy porn is full of shit and her product as derivative as mainstream porn. A former celebrity who with the help of dating apps is a pick up artist in Vegas, after his initial bluster wears off, shows himself to be completely empty inside and emotionally retarded.

Fittingly for its critical viepoint it is also almost completely without nudity and does not try to gain hypocritical, cheap points with its (male) audience. Sorry guys, almost no boobies and absolutely no vaginas.

The quality of the show reveals itself in the information and new insights the viewer gets. I e.g. did not know how little money people in the industry nowadays make. Suze Randall's daughter Holly barely makes a living continuing her mother's glamor erotica empire. Suze thinks it is hopeless and time to quit. Bailey Rayne, another presumed top player, apart from ferrying girls around the LA flesh market and helping turning them into performers, has to perform on her webcam herself, sometimes up to 14 hours. Another thing that struck me: I expect doing porn to be damaging psychologically, socially and physially, but I did not think the process to be that fast. Also these people are not primarily exploited by others since the internet came along, but with the help of the internet usually corrupt themselves.

I am watching it with my wife and we both agree that it is a very well done and intellectually stimulation documentary. Strong recommendation.

Once upon a time, "porn" was pretty titillating: basically just chicks posing in sexy, maybe even a bit raunchy of poses. I remember my grandpa had these porn mags from the 1950s and 1960s that were fantastic. By today's standards they'd barely warrant an R rating I bet.

Then somewhere along the lines in the 1990s the industry started growing gangbusters and morphing into what it is today. Now it is almost impossible to find just plain "porn" and everything seems to orbit around one or more fetishes.

I blame it on the SJW fags honestly. They are not happy with us hetero normative guys being able to get off just on a pair of jugs and female booty and insist on warping and twisting everything into some sick multicultural fetish.
