Ceres' spin-induced gravity is mentioned in the show and in the books. The ethnic diversity part is because the Belt was substantially colonized by Americans, especially Latinos and Overseas Chinese, and also by Afrikaaners, with lesser numbers of others. The ethnic diversity of Mars has to do with Mars being substantially colonized by Americans of Japanese descent, Texans, and Asian Indians. That's why Alex sounds like a Cowboy, despite looking South Asian and having the last name "Kumal."

All of it is obvious to anyone paying attention. The science is very well researched.

"Hard" science does not permit "artificial gravity." It only permits gravitational attraction based on mass, and spin-induced gee. Ain't no "magic artificial gravity" in the real universe. It's not Star Trek.

Somebody went to the trouble of stitching together the Eros Banger music as "Radio Free Eros":

Hope, the full song without the voice track makes it into the offical soundtrack.

I hated that fucking Japanese Martian spaceship captain. The scene where the dude got his head blown off was pretty fucking good though.

The Asian captain didn't bother me a bit. Seemed she was all business to me, as did the rest of the crew. I thought they did a good job of portraying professionals who were taking things very seriously. *shrug*

The one Martian military actor that makes me cringe is the lady playing marine Sgt Draper in the second season. Like she is trying too hard to act like a dude. I didn't quite picture her delivery being that "plastic" and forced when reading the book, of course. I suspect they chose the actress because she wasn't too small and she wasn't ugly, to fit the character from the novel. But her acting, mixed with the Martian Marine bluster Reinald mentioned, just makes it a bit jarring when she's doing her tough guy yapping on-screen.

I wonder where I might find Season 2. Seems like it isn't included for free in Amazon Prime.

It's not free anywhere. But if you have AMPrime you can buy the streaming rights. It's not at all expensive.

Will have to wait until the second season is also syndicated on Prime (most likely since they have the first season, right?) or whichever other provider it moves to. If you want it in a subscription package, anyway.

Since S2 is currently running on SyFy, I wouldn't expect it to show up until Q4 this year, or maybe next year, on Prime.

S02E05: The probably most akward, and at the same time most romantic, smooch of recent TV history.

And a prediction from my side: Diogo will become a Black Sky radical. The tattoo scene is ominous. Maybe they'll merge him with that Roci crewmember blood relative from the books.

So is SyFy a cable channel?

You can buy season 2 right now today on Amazon Prime. It's $30 for the season or $3 per episode, a la carte.

Yes.

Which means they'll sell the seasons into internet syndication. Eventually.

IIRC, their Dark Matter seasons came out on Netflix a little under a year after being televised on the channel. Give or take a few months, depending on show.
