I was actually wondering about the legality of CGI resurrections. Does Disney owe the estate of Peter Cushing anything for creating a computer animation that is explicitly modeled on the man?

Just watched Star Wars Rouge One today.
I thought it was a good movie.
I had not watched the last couple installments.

Rouge One . . . what was that the redlight district version!? Does Felicity Jones have a nice rack and a hairy bush like I would expect!?

The dialogue was pretty Meh. Wasn't terribly invested in most of the characters either.

But I appreciate them doing a story and ending that's a bit different from the normal Star Wars fare.

Plus the action in the last half gets great, along with all the visual callbacks to the original trilogy throughout.

They got permission from his estate.

Saw the film.

It is like pals or jihadists on a suicide mission.

Or like the Alamo.

I thought it was fun and nice additions to the universe.

The "we no longer associate with them" extremist rebels, the complete ruthlessness of some rebels, "anything for the cause". I love how they're not some Mary Sue. In Episode IV cut parts they discussed the economic background to the rebellion a lot more, the Empire was confiscating private property and reducing business owners and farmers to serfs, this more than anything caused a widespread rebellion against the authoritarianism and socialization of property. Most folks couldn't care what sort of flag they're under but when you go and take a man's farm of a woman's business, expect trouble.

It's like any freedom movement really. Can't limit yourself to Mary Sues, if batshit crazy criminals want to join only to blow up some stuff, are you going to tell them off? And eventually they had to because people were starting to think "oh my, those rebels are batshit crazy". When you kill bystanders, make it look like it was the Empire's fault ;)
