Starts tonight on HBO.

I really liked the first 3 books (haven't read the fourth) for some fantasy that didn't have the usual kids crying for home bullshit and things always ending happily. This isn't one of those. I'm just wondering how easy it'll be to follow as there are so many characters, and so much plotting backstabbery, a movie would just have to be downright confusing.

I can tell it's gonna be good because they're not mutilating the novels. Of course, the author is involved in making the film version so that should be expected.

Judging by the first one, I say "win". Even if it doesn't start getting real good until near the end of the first book/start of the second.

Good books. I've been looking forward to this.

His books bear a startling resemblance to the Wars of the Roses...

House Stark = House of York
House Lannister = House of Lancaster

Coincidence? ;)

Naa.. there's a bunch of little things based on history in it. The whole brutish tribe based on the Mongols as another example.

I guess I'm the only one watching it here, though. Their loss. ;)

I'm currently following The Event, Fringe and Supernatural.
I may be watching first few eps of this though once any of those shows goes for a break.

More than 3 series simultaneously starts getting a bit heavy. Then again, I tend to watch 3-4 episodes a day, so it usually doesn't take so long per series at a time.

I've also got 3 seasons of BSG unwatched and a few series that I should give a try... Oh and I'd like to watch The Pacific, SG1 and SGA again, right from the start

I'm watching Game of Thrones. Hadn't read the book yet though it is on the Kindle.

I've watched the first episode twice. Once when my wife came in in the middle and started asking me a bunch of questions about the show and then once by myself to catch what I missed because of my wife asking questions. So far I like it. I'm going to catch episode 2 tonight.

Watching it pretty religiously, have to say it gets a 10/10 from me. Very faithful to the book - and its a good book.

I hope they do more than merely the first book is all!

And maybe it'd get GRRM off his ass and finish the series.

Someone told me they're doing 10 episodes per book in a season. So there's four seasons planned thus far? We hope.

I've not read the fourth book yet. It was still only out in hardback edition when I finished the first three for the second time around and went looking to purchase. No way I was gonna toss $40+ at a hardback that'll probably get loaned out and/or lost.

Open buggery of a male child?
Incest?
Delibrete murder attempts?

When does the fantasy start?
