Such an operation could have had results similar to the Dash for Baghdad...
I seem to recall this was a decision that had been made by Stalin and specified to the other allies, no? Anyway: better that 81,000 Commies died to take the city than even one Yank or Brit.

Yes, I think there was a "political" decision regarding the post war occupation zones.

A "mad dash" to Berlin from the west (hopefully one with low US casualties) might have hastened the collapse of the Wehrmacht Berlin defenses.

I assume that Wehrmacht, Volksgrenadier and Volkssturm units to surrender quite easily. But the SS was different. And with only two divisions it would have been a risky gamble, assuming too much co-operation.

Politics, politics.

Hell we didn't have to dash to Berlin. Most of the Germans were fighting to get to US or British troops to surrender so they didn't have to surrender to the Russkies.
Texas, where we have the death penalty and aren't afraid to use it! Build the wall!!

I have seen this one before; pretty good and informative. The Chieftain has other good videos worth watching.

BTW he is quite tall guy to be a tanker.

A decent overview of the situation with Spain and Franco before and during WW 2.

But what would Trump say about the matter?

Franco did not pay his debt back. May be that the División Azul fought well in Russia, considering all things he was a traitor.
