Interesting discussion panel.

Damore's short bits have a point to make, but he still seems to be in a state of confusion as to what's going on. The kid needs more time to chew on it all, I think.

The rest are amusing (and much better public speakers).

Personnaly, I left the mainstream left in 2012 (election of François Hollande as president, a socialist) when I finally saw (better late than never) that the left had abandoned the economic issue, and then abandoned the popular class. But the left wanted to see itself as the defender of the oppressed, so they decided to defend the minorities. In my point of view those minorities don't exist.

The interesting point is that those events (2012) brought me to read people who criticized that left. One of them, Jean Claude Michéa, a Frenchman, follows what Georges Orwell said, and Orwell said that he was a anarchist tory. I find the idea interesting. Another one is Christophe Guilluy, another Frenchman, who describes very well our society geographically, opposing the big metropolis, like Paris, London or New York, to the rest of the country where now the white popular classes in their majority are forced to live. The funny thing is that Michéa and Guilluy would call themselves leftist. They criticize what the left has become.

An interesting video....to hear each panelist's story and how they go to where they are today.

Your are correct Neff: Damore does look a bit shell shocked but I think that is understandable---he only recently escaped from the asylum. ;-)

I don't think that he is used to being in the spotlight. Give him some time and I think that he will grown into it.

Another guy who influenced me about the left, an American one this time, is Christopher Lasch

Some retro "Leaving the Left:Why I cannot abide the Simpering Voices of Self-Styled Progressives . . ."

I leaned a bit left of middle until Clinton revealed himself to be the biggest liar in American history. That was my full-fledged break into "moderate" with some conservative-leanings.

But that article above there really resonated with me at the time. I shared it with some colleagues and it probably helped erode my "passing" as a "legit" academic.

"they hate George W. Bush more than they love freedom."

Nowadays they don't even pretend to love freedom. They openly talk about how freedom is bad. 'Freeze Peach' and all that bullshit I see.

Yeup. They remind me of Commies, Puritan witch-hunters, religious zealots from myriad ages . . .
