I am remotely acquainted with some of the people who worked in the actual program.

Also, folks who were standing 7 miles from the launch site, observing the launch and who spoke of how it was like when the blastwave hit them, punching their chest and holding them squeezed so that even if you yelled as loud as you could you couldn't hear your own voice.

The standard test for Lunar Landings is to aim a laser at the mirrors they left on Moon for this specific purpose. The loss is obviously staggering but there's a definitive bump of reflected photons coming back to you when you aim in the right place.

My absolute favorite ever was the "the Lunar Rover has no engine!"

Duh, an air breathing combustion engine wouldn't quite cut it, I wonder why. Another instance of me throwing the entire massive rover manual at the guy and he didn't even glance the page where they showed that each of the tires has it's own electric engine.

1) Always ask for sources
2) Never read them
3) Keep insisting that you're a nazi

The Lunar Denier only scored 2/3, unlike a certain resident here.

@Anthropoid, the only real thing holding us back is spending politics. Already there's a massive movement against space exploration, it is closely linked with the Lunar Denier community but others who don't deny it are communists who insist that we should first pursue SJW, global government and utopian socialism on Earth to the point where no single human ever dies or has a bad day in her life before we can spend a single cent on space exploration.

If we simply told NASA that they're going to get to build a lift vehicle three times the payload of Apollo missions and they're going to use it to lift a ship equipped with the biggest ion engine ever built, a nuclear reactor and so on, they could do it and the budget they'd need would be easily carried. For instance if it was a joint mission between the Western countries, ESA and NASA and everyone simply contributed based on GDP, it would amount to no noticeable cost to any participants while creating whole new fields of manufacturing and research.

But each civilization tends to have one big vision at a time, British had trade, Romans had conquest, Chinese had stability.. West is just clueless with it's increasing divisions between commies & SJW versus the normal folks who want to actually build a civilization instead of tear it apart.

That reflects my own thinking with 99% fidelity. Good to have that corroborated.

As I said, it is not a lack of technical capacity, or even of vision or partial motivation. It is a reflection of our species foibles. Our inability to properly organize ourselves and to strive for societies which are based on reason, humanism and skepticism, instead of tribalism, ego and greed.

So here we sit on your pleasant M-class world, big brained sentient apes, perhaps the only such entity in the cosmos, and what do we do with our selves? Internecine conflict, warfare, self-destructiveness, procrastination, etc.

Like I said: pathetic humanity, truly pathetic.

Some context for you young punks:

The NAACP and "progressives" blasted the space program in it's heyday, claiming money spent sending racists into space should be redistributed amongst truly needy black folks instead.

Exactly.

Space exploration is good, as long as it's not done by whites. China doing it is fine, so I guess it will be up to them.

Such as those odd Chinese space walk vids where bubbles are floating upward and Earth, in the background, never moves?

All I'm saying is that if I were Russian or Chinese I'd definitely secretly support the spreading of Lunar Landing Denier cult in the US.

Maybe if they manage to erode enough public support from NASA then in 50+ years they too can get their asses to Moon. It also wouldn't hurt them if Saturn V technical drawings and build instructions were made public since they were "just part of a hoax".

Even in worst case they could simply buy all the shares for SpaceX to acquire the reusable rocket technology. Which would again be made possible by the fact that all space stuff is a hoax or a form of oppression of the third world's starving people.
