Alea iacta est, now it is decided that I will lighten down my sin cargo a little by walking 780 km in 30 days. Day after of my 62th birthday early flight to Barcelona, then by train to Pamplona. And from Pamplona by bus to the starting point of the Camino Frances St Jean Pied de Port.

I was planning to do the walk last fall, but had to postpone the trek. Now everything is clear, flights ordered. Even my healthcare policy accepts the walk, trusting that I can behave with the nuns.

I have now just two weeks to prepare, but I have enough time to walk my shoes in. Few long walks with real package and shorter walk should be enough.

For me it is most important to walk slowly enough, so I will use heart rate to control the pace. Average heart rate less than 110 should be enough to slow me down. Last year I made few test walks with extra heavy package, 13.5 kg and way too fast.

I am really waiting for the first day walk over the Pyrenees, 24 km; vertical 1200m.

So it goes.

PS. If anyone has done the walk, I'd be very interested to hear. ;)

American...

Does not know what camino is.

Polyglot is one who knows several languages, a bilingual know two languages. Those who know one language speak English or Russian, who know less are chickenSalads.

So it goes.
