Not real relevant to Europe star falling ... but question about Kansas economy was asked ...

Image

Kansas Per-Capita GDP $45,558

https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2004rank.html

That would put Kansas 33rd on the global list if it was a nation. Right behind Canada, ahead of Belgium, Finland ... others ...

So the Kansas economy seems stable and not so bad compared to other entities.

Yep. And KS Minuteman III arsenal makes it more powerful than any nation outside of the USA save Russia and maybe the PRC.

How much Kansas pays to the Feds and how much Kansas gets back? As far I understand Kansas is in the receiving end in this respect.

Enlighten me.

I have always believed that nukes in the US are a federal thing. To think that the minutemans are in Brownback's control is just shocking.

Governor's do not have command of U.S. Military forces, except in an instance where the Commander in Chief or his authorized subordinate assigns such command.

In the event of the loss of the Federal Government it is a dead certainty that command of strategic nuclear forces would pass to governors in the states where those forces are located. Such loss of Federal control could be both catastrophic in its cause (nuclear war, bolide impact) or social (revolution, dissolution of the armed forces).

Are you reflecting to your new commander-in-chief?

Note to myself: no jokes on Kansas no more.

Nope. I've been expecting the shit to hit the fan any day now for ten years. If anything, an American withdrawal from global cooperation and a more lessaiz faire approach to foreign entanglements should keep the USA out of such circumstance (albeit, maybe making it more likely that other nations will experience such social or military catastrophes).
