Well it's a very special thing. We take it for granted. We cancel doctors appointments over here like it means *nothing*.
People often make an appointment then never show up. I'm trying to think of a comparison over there in the USA.

There is also a difference between England and Scotland now. NHS staff wages have been frozen down there. Some people say that in England the Tory government are trying to run the NHS into the ground. They are probably right. :(

In Scotland ... wait till you hear this.... we pay zero for any and *all* prescriptions.
In England the maximum they pay for any prescription is £7.50 last I heard.

Man. It's awesome. You got toe fungus? Zero £s. You got cancer? Zero £s.

Okay, well let me ask you this: how many global billionaires are lining up to get treatment from NHS?

Because here in the U.S. our toppity toppest medical institutions bring in billions from sheikhs, movie stars, top politicians, billionaires, moguls . . . These institutions are also infamous for brain draining the best medical and scientific minds in the world. Whatever the "best" tier of physicians is in Canada, well it's inherently one or two tiers below the U.S. because all the best in Canada migrated to the U.S. as soon as they were able.

Moreover, anyone, anywhere, cannot be denied service for conditions which are serious . . . they may be hounded by collections agents for the rest of their days, but they will get that appendectomy or whatever it was they needed: service first, collection later is the standard, and of course that is the case as anything else would breach the Hippocratic.

Does routine teeth cleaning, eye exams or prostate exam count as "serious" . . . probably not; I'm not honestly sure. So yeah, our system is not perfect, but then neither is yours nor any of them. Every single socialized medicine system on the planet of which I'm aware has a higher-tier "Pay for" big sister system that the rich and famous use and which insures that the best service providers don't have to languish in the squalor and bureacracy of the commie system along with the proles like you and me. The only solution to this of course is what? Yes, that's right: full-scale communism = restrict physicians or other health care providers from working independent of state-owned and controlled institutions.

So are you gonna tell me that getting some fucking toe fungus treated for free or nearly free is worth letting our precious societies get transformed into the Soviet Union, or even "Soviet Union-Lite" aka "Finland?"

One last bit of info for you: the only people who "suffer" in our system are the poor, and the extent to which they suffer is completely a reflection of their poverty. Their poverty is the product of a complex social process, but their own behavior cannot be removed from that equation. Some, perhaps many poor people are basically fuck ups who are unable, unwilling or incapable of being better than poor. Not all of course, and exactly what fraction are true "victims" versus fuckups is of course highly debatable. El Bernadito would have us presume that 99% of the poor are victims, but I am here to express skepticism on that point; it just does not make sense.

Middle class folks and upper class folks, those who have jobs, and health plans and/or enough money to get a different health plan don't really "suffer" at all, and moreover, they benefit enormously from living in a society with the highest medical standards on the fucking planet.

You gonna tell me that all the successful people of the world should endure living in a goddamn totalitarian society for the benefit of the poor, some or even many of whom are just basically fuckups?

Fuck that shit. I'd frankly rather go back to an even MORE oligarchic system in the form of early Imperial Rome than that.

Anthro, what you have apparently overlooked is that transforming the UK into the next Soviet Union is what socialists like Fronswa have been struggling for all these years.

Rhetorical ploy, which you have now trashed!

The point was to do a sort of reverse "Briar Rabbit" on 'em, git 'em to ADMIT they want Comrade Bernilli to be vested with the power of Stalin . . . now they'll never admit it :(

Well that sounds like a real efficient use of resources, now doesn't it?
Doctors, nurses and their staff sitting around the office, the lights burning.....doing "nothing".

How could anyone vote for Bernie when the Democratic party tells it's voters exactly who they will be voting for & damn their choices?

I saw this posted over at Ace of Spades and immediately thought of our friend Fronswa:
