You did bring up the US and stated it had an obligation to Poland... true that your aspersion was vague. Then you linked US isolationism with the insecurity of Poland.

So, leaving aside the US, since you seem to have backed off that side of your claim, which major powers betrayed Poland? What obligations did each have, in your imagination, to Poland?

Also, whom is this ancient enemy of which you speak?

You are connecting imaginary dots. ;)

Romanians and Hungarians did, for a while.

Bulgaria was strongly pro-Russian. They did sort of help Germany garrison the Balkans but switched sides immediatly when the Red Army approached their borders...

I just wonder how lucky the US was after Pearl Harbor not to have to declare war against Germany. Hitler did it. Otherwise...

So distance is a factor in the moral/bravery game?

Cool - that means the much larger USA (population, economic, natural resources etc) is pretty much safe behind the oceans - from German attack - possibly a combined German - Soviet attack (Stalin being on friendly terms with Hitler, dividing up countries and stuff). It appears the stakes are higher for Finland... :P

So the fact that the Soviets, or Russians if you will, was a long standing enemy of Finland makes it okay to ally with one of the most despicable regimes in history?

Democratic nations would have been better co-belligerents against the despicable Soviet regime...., but in 1941 the Brits were being slapped around and the neutral tiny American army was in a pitiful state. Got any realistic options?

Well I guess they could have just honored the peace treaty they had signed just a year earlier.
