So, yes, there were certainly torsion stone throwers in the ancient artillery ...

Early hand cannons and muskets were stone throwers that threw metal balls instead of stone.

As rifles approached modernity they became actually more similar to spear throwers. No one throws a ball but a stick that usually but not always rotates in the air.

Throwing a stick from your rifle or cannon has advantages - it is more aerodynamic meaning it flies longer. For same reason it is also more accurate. Finally, it penetrates better because it has a clear tip and most of it's mass is in a train-like configuration behind the tip ready to ram in it's mass at the tip that has minimal surface area meaning more force per surface area.

Why was the Civil War so bloody? What tactic/strategies would have helped?

Very careful when watching Metatron's videos.

Meteorologist warning: strong gusts and bullshit.

He probably has the same hit ratio as the guy on the second video. At least the latter one was funny.

A few examples would be nice.

A few million bucks would be nice on my account.

Examples are redundant.

Where there is uncertainty, I shall bring light
Where there is doubt, I shall sow faith
Where there is shame, I shall point atonement
Where there is rage, I shall show its course
My word in the soul shall be as my bolter in the field.

See, brother, all you need is faith. Not examples.

Examples?

To the darkness I bring fire. To the ignorant I bring faith. Those who welcome these gifts may live, but I will visit naught but death and eternal damnation on those who refuse them.

Have faith.

Faith is purest when it is unquestioning.

In other words 'Ignore your warnings.'

To start with, he thinks katana is roughly as good as a European longsword.

Yes, he said that on his video about katanas and longswords. Basically claiming shit like that it is a matter of preference which sword you'd pick and so.

He's also bought into the whole bullshido myth. There was no real bushido. The correct term is bullshido and that was manufactured by 20th century Imperial Japan as their equivalent of Nazi's Aryan people myth to be used by propaganda machine to turn the peasant farmers into a ruthless war machine.

But hey, it's the modern internet. If your answer sounds cool you'll get a lot of upvotes - even if you are factually wrong - and the ones that have the most upvotes are promoted over the more factually correct answers and get even more upvotes. Go check Quora some day. The completely and utterly wrong bullshit answers can have 5k upvotes whereas the correct answer might have 100 upvotes. But the avatar of the guy answering is a fox from Zootopia and he makes a couple of snarky comments and his claims are outrageously cool.

This kind of shit always gets the most upvotes. And people look at the upvote count and think "oh, it must be correct then".
