At first I thought "Aw, thats nice of him to take care of his pet like that," but then I realised he is probably just preserving his food...

BREAKING: US confirms 13th American with coronavirus
  • A 13th American has been diagnosed with coronavirus in California
The individual had been held in the state under federal quarantine after returning from Wuhan
It come the same day a 14-day quarantine was set to end for the first 195 people Americans evacuated from Wuhan, China
Monday, the coronavirus outbreak's death toll surpassed 1,000 people worldwide
Cases have surged to over 43,100 globally as WHO officials call the outbreak a 'grave threat to the world

A thirteenth American has been diagnosed with the deadly coronavirus infection spreading around the globe, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) officials said Tuesday.

The patient, of undisclosed sex and age, was under federal quarantine in California after returning from travel in Wuhan, China.

It comes as the first 195 Americans evacuated from the city, which is the epicenter of the outbreak, were set to be released from federal quarantine on March Air Base in California on Tuesday.

As of yet, it remains unclear whether the newly-diagnosed patient was among this first batch of quarantined people, or if they may have exposed others to the virus.

On Monday, Chinese officials confirmed that the Hubei province, where Wuhan is located, had had its deadliest day since the outbreak began. More than 100 people had died there, pushing the worldwide total past 1,000.

On top of declaring the coronavirus outbreak public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC) on January 30, thee World Health Organization Tuesday said the outbreak stemming from China poses 'a very grave threat to the rest of the world.'

The outbreak has now reached at least 24 countries outside China and three territories outside the mainland of the origin nation.

In an effort to contain the outbreak, which continues to creep toward pandemic status, Wuhan has been on lockdown since January 23.

American authorities have rerouted all flights from China through 11 airports, where passengers are now screened for a history of travel to the Hubei province, where the outbreak began, ostensibly at a Wuhan seafood and game market, and symptoms.

Anyone who has traveled to Wuhan within the past two weeks is placed under a federally mandated quarantine for 14 days - what scientists consider the outside bound of the virus's incubation period.

People who have traveled to China within the past two weeks are subject to a self-isolation quarantine in their own homes for the same period of time.

And for the time being, foreign nationals who have been in China in the past two weeks are barred from entering the US.
The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public’s money.

Hmm.....didn't they check everyone from Wuhan?

So far no deaths in the US. A good sign.

Can you imagine if this gets to Africa? There will not be the infrastructure an governmental integrity to contain it.

Can you imagine the PC overdrive outrage if the US closes entry to flights from Africa?

New Chinese study suggests latency period for Bat Soup virus might be as long as 24 days instead of 14 days. Of course, we are still taking people out of quarantine at 14 days.

Nothing to worry about.

London has fallen...
A woman who flew into London from China a few days ago is being treated for coronavirus, bringing the total number of UK cases to nine.

Chief medical officer Chris Whitty said the woman had been transferred to a specialist NHS centre at Guy's and St Thomas' in central London.

Sources say she developed symptoms after landing at Heathrow, called NHS 111 and then tested positive.

It comes after a senior official warned more UK cases were "highly likely".

Prof Paul Cosford, from Public Health England, told the BBC his teams were doing their best to contain the spread.

Meanwhile, all 83 people being held in quarantine at Arrowe Park Hospital in the Wirral have been told their final set of test results for the coronavirus have come back as negative, confirming they are all free of the virus.

It is expected they will be free to leave the accommodation on Thursday morning having spent two weeks there in quarantine.

Earlier, British man Steve Walsh, linked to 11 cases, left hospital having fully recovered.

A total of 1,750 people have tested negative for the virus in the UK.

4:12 pm: China confirms 15,152 new cases, 254 additional deaths

In a Thursday press conference, China said it confirmed 15,152 new cases and 254 additional deaths. Those figures include the ones reported earlier by Hubei province under its new diagnosis methodology. (See 7:55 a.m. and 10:40 a.m. updates).

That brings the country’s total death toll to 1,367 as the number of people infected hit 59,804, according to the government.

A spokeswoman for the Shanghai Health Commission said at a press conference that the methodology for diagnosing coronavirus has not been changed in any Chinese provinces or municipalities except for Hubei.

Health workers in Hubei province began using a new method to diagnose the virus this week.

Previously, infections were only allowed to be confirmed with nucleic acid tests, which can take days to process, but Hubei province is now using CT scans which can diagnose the virus more quickly. — Wang, Cheng, Taylor
Wednesday evening as I was watching the news I heard that the number of new cases in China was slowing down, and then now I hear there were 15,152 new cases and 254 additional deaths.
That doesn't sound like 'slowing down' to me.
