There are no such areas in Florida.

The State created:
Citizens Property Insurance Corporation

They filmed the movie The Truman Show in Seaside, Florida(which is within the Emerald Coast).

I've visited there. Its a funky little community.

Texas, always Texas. We need more Conservatives moving in to counter the Blue tide that seems never ending.

East Texas has more lakes than you can count. From small 800 acre County lakes to 20 thou plus res. Beautiful country, land is not expensive yet. Wood County is my favorite. 2 hours from Dallas or Shreveport.

Coastal Texas is also nice, but the Blue wave has hit hard down there. Houston sucks ass IMO.

And our Dems are stupid, their Gov candidate ex-sheriff Lupe (whatever) of Dallas county lost her service pistol and never reported it lost. Or she failed to turn it in etc. Either way, it is missing from the County Sheriff armory.

Houston is uuuuuugly. No offense. :) East Texas does seem very beautiful. In some ways East Texas is like where I am now...massive 300-400 year old oaks, lots of wild critters..but some of the neighbors here are serious a-holes...turning me in to the HOA, that kind of crap. Serious consumerism here too.

From what I here Austin is lost.

If you’re hooked on tarpon or redfish I guess the gulf coast makes some sense. But you’re not going to find solitude or a survivable climate. I’ve spent some time on the redneck riviera. If I chose the most memorable spot I’d suggest St. George Island FL.

Appalachicola area is still very affordable.

What do you Florida guys think about Florida.

Forgotten Coast?

SW Florida?

Where are areas where you can't get hurricane insurance?

You'll get the most bang for your buck in west Cape Coral, FL. Gulf access, mansions sprouting, property available, so quiet you can hear crickets chirping at night, supermart 5 mins drive. Doctor, I'd have my ppl look into it. From Sarasota to Marco Island, Cape is a sweet place to live for the value.

Have spent some time in the "Emerald Coast" area (heh, didn't know that was what it was called), and can confirm it is nice! Slightly rednecky, but then that is pretty normal most places in Florida.

There are some very swank communities though. My wife's grandma lived in a community near the air base (the grandfather was USAF) over there . . . cannot think of the name of it.

Eglin AFB.
It’s HUGE!
Eglin would make up 60% of Rhode Island.

Yes, spent some time at Hurlbert Field 9.
Long, long ago.
