Just saw mention of this in some comments.

American YouTuber Brittany Pettibone and her Austrian boyfriend have been detained by UK police for some bullshit "hate speech" charges for the last couple days.

You Brits need to take your country back from the Brownshirts running the place. Their arrests continue to shock. Judging by the events surrounding the arrest, it seems as if the British authorities are just furthering Antifa's goals.

Conservative Activists Martin Sellner and Brittany Pettibone Detained in UK for Political Beliefs
by Cassandra Fairbanks

Austrian activist Martin Sellner of Génération Identitaire and his girlfriend, American author and YouTuber Brittany Pettibone, have been detained by airport police in England for nearly three days.

Nobody from the US State Department or embassy contacted Pettibone’s family.

Sellner was on his way to give a speech that authorities say would cause “tension among local communities and possibly incite hatred.”

“Yesterday, Martin Sellner and Brittany Pettibone were detained by the UK Government and effectively declared political dissidents. The government has decided that Martin’s talk about free speech is too dangerous to be heard. Don’t worry, some of our activists will be reading his speech at Speakers’ Corner at noon tomorrow in his stead. We can’t allow either the far left or the government to silence us,” a statement from the British GI chapter read.

Sellner frequently speaks out about the dangers of European nations taking in migrants. He was supposed to be addressing the issue at Speakers’ Corner in Hyde Park on Sunday.

Journalist and researcher Nick Monroe spoke to Pettibone on Saturday afternoon when she called him from the detention center. She told him that she is expecting that they will be released on Sunday — 72 hours after their initial detention. She has not been permitted to speak to Sellner.

One of the reasons for the detention was that they were planning to interview former Rebel Media journalist Tommy Robinson.

“My speech for the @YIofficial conference was cancelled for the 2nd time, due to security risks caused by left wing threats,” Sellner tweeted. “But we won’t be silenced. On Sunday the 11th I will give my speech on Speakers Corner and I invite everybody who had a ticket for the conference to come!”

“The pledge comes after a planned ‘free speech’ conference of Ukip’s youth wing, Young Independence, this weekend was cancelled amid alleged ‘security threats,’” the Evening Standard reports.

According to the Evening Standard, the Home Office had previously refused to comment on whether or not Sellner would be blocked from entering the UK.

“The Home Secretary may exclude an EEA national on the grounds of public policy or security, if they pose a genuine, present and sufficiently serious threat,” they said in a statement early Saturday morning.

The event was facing threats of rioting from Antifa communists.

Quote:
Just spoke to Brittany on the prison payphone. She said she is being detained for planning to 'Interview Tommy Robinson'. Immigration officer compared Tommy to the KKK. She's not allowed to leave and has been there for 2 days. Not allowed to speak to or see her partner Martin.

Quote:
Basically:
- The UK police detained @BrittPettibone and @Martin_Sellner at the airport because they were worried the speech on speaker's corner would cause rioting
- They were detained in separate cells
- They are being sent back to Austria by tomorrow at the latest.

@Neff, the UK government previously denied entry to Pamela Geller for similar (bullshit) reasons:

But were they arrested, without warning, at the airport and detained for (currently) 3 days?

It's difficult for me to wrap my head around British law enforcement right now. Are they all being run by Authoritarian Socialistas now? Not only arresting British people for making prank vids, or saying mean things, on the internet, but now arresting foreigners who show up to do interviews with Britons?

The apparatus of the British gov't is increasingly looking like they're enforcing the Far Left's will there. The Orwellian slide in full swing.

I think you are right in this:
Whereas (IIRC) Geller was denied an entrance visa (not allowed to come to UK and step foot on British soil), in the case of Pettibone and her boyfriend, they had already arrived in the UK.

Jailing them like this seems excessive. I think that there would have been less controversy had they just put them onto the next plane out of the country.

As for the current state of affairs with the British police, I think that Mac has done a good job with keeping us informed of some of their crazy actions.

You're right. Mac has kept us abreast on the insanity pretty well.

It also looks as if he has to go hunt down that stuff anywhere but the Leftstream Media. Not just an authoritarian crackdown on speech, but a compliant media keeping it out of the headlines.

It really does appear to be a populist vs ruling class Big Brother situation.

If the BBC was the sole source of info nobody would know anything about anything not of the narrative. The Italian election was tucked away in the furthest recesses of their website for 3 whole days before being pulled. I only found it because I was specifically looking for it - and very few people are hunting for specific current affairs stories. As for whether that's normal - when Geert Wilders didn't do as well as expected in the Netherlands a few years back, that was headline news for days. (And he still increased his vote share, he just didnt increase it by as much as forecast). The bias is definitely by omission in the main.

The Daily Mail has a single article which references Pettibone recently but doing a search that's as mainstream as it gets. No registering on the media whatsoever.

Parliamentary systems almost invariably mean being led by a committee. Every so often you get a strong personality take over but... rarely.

Both the strength and the flaw of parliamentary systems I imagine.

I noticed there is not a whisper on the BBC website about the Telford scandal that has been blowing up in the tabloids today. Over a 1000 kids, drugged, raped and beaten and in some cases murdered by "Asian" sex gangs over four decades, but the Beeb won't shine a light on that until that absolutely have to.
