David Hogg organized a boycott of the Publix supermarket chain.

http://www.tampabay.com/florida-politic ... -protests/

Publix caved.

Publix had contributed to the political campaigns of Adam Putnam over the years.
Putnam is a local boy who comes from Polk County, where Publix is headquartered.
His family has been farming in Florida for something like 5 generations.
He has served in the Florida House of Representatives, the US House of Representatives, as the Commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer Affairs, and I believe is now running for Governor of Florida. He was the youngest member ever elected to the Florida House (he was 22 yrs old at the time). He was only 26 when he was elected to the US House of Rep.

I met him once after he was elected to the House---it was during his first term in the US House. He visited my worksite and did a meet and greet. It was a little intimidating meeting a guy 10 yrs younger than I was who was a member of Congress.

Oh, and the reason that Hogg doesn't like Putnam is because he is a member, supporter and campaign contribution recipient of the NRA.

Well, "just a little kid" with enough influence to get people to protest a $14 billion corporation(by equity) and 188,000 employees and make it cave to his will on the first day of an announced protest.

A good thing.

Majority of Americans want stricter gun laws: poll. But the Congress is bribed by NRA.

Slowly, but surely...

PS. I accept your hate. ;)

"bribing" :roll:

You make it sound as if the NRA is the only organization that spends money on lobbying or that makes political contributions.

The NRA accounts for just a fraction of the contributions lawmakers receive, and the group doesn’t crack the top 50 in terms of spending to the lobby the federal government.

Big Oil, Big Pharma, etc... make bigger contributions. But there is very negative correlation between the congress members and populace in general in gun issues. But perhaps this year the voice of the people is better reflected this year. ;)

But I don't claim to be the voice of the people, at least not the voice of the American people. But I can refer to articles and polls that show that the majority of Americans support stricter gun controls to reduce gun violence.

So it goes.

Chicago has some of the strictest gun control laws in the United States.

Chicago had 650 murders in 2017, more than New York City and Los Angeles COMBINED.

NYC and LA have 4.6 times more people, yet have fewer murders that Chicago, a city with barely 1/5 the population of NYC and LA.

How's that stricter gun control working out for Chicago?

More stricter gun laws. No guns zones. Guns only for a legit purpose, like target shooting and hunting. As for home protection there is the police. If you don't have enough police, have more.

But then school shootings are not the problem in Chicago. But gun violence is.

Stop your lizard thinking.
