What with Netflix and Amazon it's not so bad as it used to be. You can watch everything through the internet and thus not need a license. So long as you do it on a computer and not a smart TV you're golden.

The BBC is slowly waking up to the new reailty; to actually watch BBC programs its no longer available to all, you need to give them your licensing details. So it's becoming a de facto subscription service essentially, or at least you can treat it as one.

I don't have Netflix but I do have Amazon (as well as CBS On Demand).

I do watch some things on either laptop or IPad...but I also have the opportunity to watch those shows on my 40 inch TV screen.

Can you plug your computer into a 40 inch "monitor"? ;-)

Also another question:
Here in the US, if you really don't want to pay for cable, you can still watch things on your tv because all the local tv channels (network and independent) still broadcast their signals "over the air". All you need is one of these:

that one in particular will set you back at Walmart for a one time cost of $18.62

That's what I do. I haven't owned a tv in years, fuck the BBC.

If it is just for "artistic" effect, I've got no complaints. Its when the obvious goal is to imply--if not explicitly claim--that phenotypes which were actually very uncommon WERE common in some historical setting that it is disgusting.

Are the actually trying to suggest that Joan D'Arc was tropical phenotype? Or is it just a "lets redo the Joan story, but with an African woman in the role?" Don't really see a problem with the latter.

Other interesting "re-imaginings"
Margaret Thatcher played by an Archie Bunker look alike.

Mao Tse Tung, played by Britney Spears.

Genghis Khan, played by a Hillary Clinton look alike.

Adolf Hitler, played by PewDiePie (and in character!).

Conan the Barbarian, played by Laci Green.

I've been wondering if some British politicians will start pushing for extra taxes/fees, on top of internet streaming services or ISP in general, so they can force people to give money to the BBC when it's earnings drop.

Do you think they'd ever do such a thing, in order to keep their government-backed baby from losing a lot of income?

I'm assuming more & more people are ditching their BBC subs in favor of streaming. I also suspect there are some real big gov't asshole types who'd think it a good idea to force the plebeians to keep the British Bolshevik Corporation alive whether they want to or not.

You can have a black Jeanne d'Arc in a movie, why not, it is artistic licence. But don't claim that you do something historical, you are more in Surrealism.
In my opinion, they should use orks to play the English ;)
