Sounded like a lot of echos mixed in on the shooting footage I've seen.

Since there are numerous tall flat-sided buildings in the area, it's not surprising that the rebounds were fairly loud. But you can still detect the difference between the real shots and the echoes. And there were probably multiple echoes, with their retained energy depending on where you were.

Echoes.

Those were my thoughts as well.

You would hear a series of shots, and then an echo....and the firing patterns in the echo would match up to the just earlier sequence of firing.

I always assume the simplest explanations. A whacked out elderly guy who was always a bit of a misanthrope slides deeper into hatred of his fellow humans, starts buying guns and thinking a lot about how he could "do it" . . . a year or two later, he's all prepped and does it.

It isn't fucking rocket science. If Anders Brievik could pull off a stunt like he did or a Charles Whitman or any of the other ~500+ spree killers who have managed to rack up a horrific body count globally over the last 100 years could pull it off, then why would anyone need to dream up fancy conspiracies about this LV shooter?

He spotted a "chink" in the armor, an obvious weak spot where a psychopath could strike and he did it, nothing magical about it. Without living in a police state, our societies are replete with "chinks" which make us vulnerable to the various predator nuts that infrequently crop up in our extraordinarily large population of large-brained bipedal apes on Earth. This is what I meant by "nothing can help." It is a risk that is inherent to our species our vast numbers and the very concentrated, individualist and low-key living situations we expect and deserve. There is no way to be truly "safe" from this type of threat, though there are some small precautions which could do wonders in some instances. Having at least one armed guard at the Brievik thing for example would have done wonders.

In this case though, I don't see how any sensible or reasonable pre-existing precaution could have made any difference. Even if this were Australia and everyone's guns were "taken away," there would assuredly be a black market and it might even INCREASE the incidence of this type of attack.

Echos?

You hear the shots at 8 secs which very well may have been followed by an echo. Then you hear the same intensity of gunfire at 1:13 and 1:18. At minute 1:47 after a pause of 19 seconds the fire resumes at a totally different intensity...that is not an echo.

This video is taken from a taxi driver at the front of the hotel. The gunmen is on the 32nd floor on the other side of the building. Does the intensity of the sound for the gunshots at time 8 secs sound they are that far away?

I can understand that there may be some echos in there... but there is also at least 2 different intensities of gunfire on that tape.

Las Vegas massacre gunman had a NORMAL brain: Autopsy finds 'no abnormalites' that could have driven him to kill 58 innocent people

Clark County sheriff said exam showed 'no abnormalities' with Paddock's brain

The Las Vegas sheriff leading the investigation into America's worst mass shooting has said 'we may never know' what motivated Stephen Paddock to kill 58 people.

Joe Lombardo said and exam of Paddock's brain has revealed 'no abnormalities' while girlfriend Marilou Danley had 'no concerns' over his mental health.

Detectives have contacted every branch of Paddock's family tree, including both his ex-wives, but have no uncovered anything that would explain his murderous actions.

All those things that you would expect to find, we have not found,' Lombardo said in an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Asked if investigators are any closer to uncovering a motive, he added: 'We may never know.'

Lombardo was able to shed more light on Paddock's time in Las Vegas before he began his massacre on Sunday, October 1.

Paddock had arrived in the city three days earlier than originally thought, but stayed in a different room that was provided free of charge by the hotel.

When he moved to the corner suite from which he carried out the massacre, the hotel began charging him for the stay.

Police initially only counted charged days, hence the confusion, Lombardo said.

Lombardo said his team had reviewed hours of CCTV footage, and were not aware of any evidence to suggest he went into the desert to practice shooting in the days before the massacre, or that he hired a prostitute, as has been reported.

A bellboy did help Paddock move several bags up to his room, Lombardo revealed, adding that the killer traveled back and forth to his hometown of Mesquite several times before the massacre.

Lombardo confirmed that a Dr Winkler had treated Paddock for anxiety, and said he was not aware of any other medics treating him.

It is thought that Dr Winkler proscribed Paddock Valium, which can trigger underlying aggressive behavior to surface.

Lombardo said toxicology tests have not come back and the autopsy on Paddock is still underway.

The sheriff also revealed that during his rampage, Paddock shot a Mandalay Bay security guard in the thigh before pumping 200 bullets into the surrounding rooms, though fortunately nobody else was hurt.

It was the guard that alerted police to the location of the shooter, he said.

Paddock used an arsenal of 23 weapons to shoot 58 people dead, before killing himself as police breached the door to his room.

Break-in at Las Vegas shooter’s home in Reno confounds police

FBI agents returned to search a house in Reno owned by Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock after local police told them that someone had broken into the home over the weekend.

Reno police officer Tim Broadway said they were called to the house Sunday morning by a neighbor who saw lights on in the home owned by Paddock.

“Nobody really saw anything, just a light was on with nobody in the residence,” Broadway said, according to the Associated Press.

Broadway said officers discovered that "someone had broken into the house” and he immediately contacted the FBI.

He added that the suspects broke into the home through the front door over the weekend, but said he was not sure exactly how they gained entry. Police are not aware of any damages or anything that was stolen.

There are no suspects at this time or any descriptions of a suspect.

The FBI is working with Reno police to ensure “there are no further incidents,” Broadway told the Reno-Gazette Journal.

Paddock, 64, bought the house in the upscale retirement community in 2013 and lived there with his girlfriend, Marilou Danley.

Investigators previously searched the residence on October 3 and found five handguns, two shotguns, numerous electronic devices and a “plethora of ammunition,” according to KOLO.

During a news conference Monday, Las Vegas Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said the FBI and behavioral analysis agents were revisiting Paddock’s properties in order to possibly “discern additional evidence.”

I have not seen anything regarding that yet.

From the videos I've seen, I doubt that anyone was killed or even badly injured by trampling.
