Well, the obvious one is the same reason the FBI took over a year to redact one name and the name of one country in the memo about the FISA warrant application before handing it over to the Congress.

It made the FBI and/or its agents and leaders look bad. There is probably something embarrassing to LVPD in the LV shooting review.

JUDGE: Police Are Stalling Release Of Las Vegas Shooting Records

ByRYAN SAAVEDRA
@REALSAAVEDRA
April 11, 2018

On Tuesday, District Judge Stefany Miley accused the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department of trying to stall the release of records related to the October 1, 2017 massacre.

“I’m very frustrated, because I think that gamesmanship is going on here,” District Judge Stefany Miley said during a reportedly heated hearing, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “It’s now months since the shooting occurred, and it’s still the same: delay, delay, delay. If one technique doesn’t work, then you switch to another one. That’s very concerning for the court.”

The Journal reports that last month District Judge Richard Scotti ruled that the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department had to immediately start the process of releasing records from the shooting to the media. The Journal adds:

Scotti said the records could be made public gradually, as they’re processed — as opposed to releasing them all at once after additional delay — and gave Metro six months to complete the task. He also ruled that the department could not charge journalists hundreds of thousands of dollars for the production of those records.

“All you’ve done is prolong the proceedings even further than it should have been, and that’s what’s very concerning to me,” Miley told Metro's lawyers. “It seems like a game.”

Miley rejected Metro’s motion for reconsideration and denied their request "to keep the body camera footage and 911 calls in limbo until police can seek relief from the state’s high court."

“Although the court does agree with Metro in that there are privileges that may protect the disclosure of certain documents, the question has always been, for this court: Which documents are subject to protections under the law? And that’s never been provided to this court,” Miley said.

It's been more than 6 months since this incident.

What is the Las Vegas Police Department withholding?

Why are they withholding information?

Often times the District Attorney or police say that they are withholding certain information because doing so might negatively impact the prosecution of the perpetrator or inhibit their search for any accomplices.

In this case neither of those reasons are applicable: the shooter is dead; and law enforcement has not identified any accomplices.

Something doesn't add up here.

Damn straight.

The longer they refuse to release the findings, the more they appear to be covering something up.

Courts have an amazingly powerful weapon ... "Contempt" ... and whenever a judge gets sufficiently "frustrated" ... then s/he just slaps a few folks in jail ... like attorneys or poo leece or both ... and they can rot in jail for years ... contempt is a powerful weapon ... maybe Stefany needs to read up on it !

A court order forced police to release body camera footage from the Las Vegas shooter’s hotel suite this week.

A Nevada Supreme Court judge denied the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s motion to withhold a trove of public records related to the investigation after the Associated Press and multiple media outlets filed suit for the documents last year.

Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo apologized to victims during a press conference Tuesday for the trauma the footage may cause and expressed grave concerns about the impact of the release on the department’s final report, due later this year.

“What is seen on those videos in no way changes the facts that we were able to clarify for you shortly after the crime,” he said.

I wonder why Lombardo thinks he has to tell us the videos don't change the facts??? How could the videos "change the facts" ???

Well, I suppose that the release of videos could change the facts "as they were known".
So the facts that were provided could then be contradicted if a video released called those previously "provided" facts into question.

There have been a number of shootings involving police where there were 'facts" that were released by police and then later video was released that contradicted the facts as they had been told.
That has also worked the other way...where a person or bystanders "give the facts" showing the police in a negative light, and then body cam video is released that contradicts those prior "facts".

A video could also 'change the perceptions' of people if it reinforces something that may have been known previously.

I think that a great example of this is what happened at the Parkland high school shooting.

The shooting occurred Feb 14, 2018. Soon thereafter facts surfaced that indicated that the School Resource Officer did not enter the school/backed off. Some (including the SRO) challenged that. It was not until March 15 that video was released showing this SRO's actions. To many people the officer's actions became much more evident/believable when they saw the video.

Has it really taken them this long to come up with this sht?

Quote:
A man who met Stephen Paddock less than a month before the Las Vegas massacre said the mass shooter ranted about a government plot to confiscate guns and called for the American public to wake up and arm themselves, according to newly released witness statements.

The man, whose name has been redacted, gave a jailhouse interview in November saying he met up with Paddock outside a sporting goods store after posting an online ad to sell schematics to convert semi-automatic guns to fire automatically.

Paddock reportedly said, "Somebody has to wake up the American public and get them to arm themselves," when the two met less than a month before the Oct. 1 shooting that killed 58 people and injured hundreds. "Sometimes sacrifices have to be made," he added.

Paddock also ranted about "camps" the Federal Emergency Management Agency set up after Hurricane Katrina, which he claimed were a "dry run for law enforcement and military to start kickin' down doors and … confiscating guns."

In a handwritten account, a woman said she overheard a man she believes to be Paddock talking with another man at a Las Vegas restaurant just three days before the massacre. She told police that Paddock seemed angry about the 1990s standoffs at Waco, Texas, and Ruby Ridge in Idaho.

"At the time, I just thought 'strange guys' and I wanted to leave," said the woman.

A housekeeper at the Mandalay Bay also described her discomfort when she cleaned Paddock's hotel room just four days before the shooting.

Paddock, she says, ordered room service and kept staring at her while she emptied the refrigerator and changed the bed sheets at his request.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department released 1,200 pages of police reports and witness statements on Wednesday after losing court battles to keep them secret.

Law enforcement refused to provide any additional information and declined to say whether the reports were credible.

More than seven months later, authorities have not yet determined a motive in the ongoing investigation, although they believe Paddock acted alone and did not have ties to international terrorist groups.

Claims government is plotting to take your guns, conducts a mass shooting that would make it more likely that the goverment would take peoples guns. Makes perfect sense.

Paddock was anticipating the "Cohen Act". ;)
