Media Matters and TYT are claiming that 4chan are now more powerful than FOX/CNN/MSNBC combined and are driving the right wing narrative. Vid at link...

4chan's latest project is to get a young girl with a genetic disorder to 10,000 subs on youtube. She has gone from 100 subs to 1,800 in the last 12 hours.

Even the asshole of the internet has a heart.

That's views mate, not subs. ;) Since Chi posted she has hit 7,334 subs.

Plenty of newfags on the board have been crying about how 4chan is supposed to be the big bad of the internet and shouldn't do stuff like this. Idiots don't realise that 4chan actually has a history of doing random good deeds.

One 4chan story I remember fondly was of a WW2 vet named William J Lashua who turned 90 on sept. 4th 2010. An anon from Mr Lashua's home town posted this picture of a flyer for his birthday party on 4chan...

Image

Taking it that he was a poor old man with no friends (actually he wasn't and had plenty of friends and family) they rallied the internet and spread it across other news aggregate hubsites and social networks like Gawker, Buzzfeed, Reddit and Facebook.

The result was as comfirmed by his grandson...

"I called the Legion. His grandson got on the phone: 50 Bouquets of Flowers 20 Cakes Countless cards. He said 5 UPS have pulled up today with stuff for him. They also said the local Postal Mail had 2 trucks full of cards. He told me to pass along to Anonymous a "Thank You""

Some anons even turned up at the American Legion to party with him

When Mr Lashua passed away three years later they sent numerous wreaths to his funeral.

The beers at the American Legion bars I've been to were relatively inexpensive. I wouldn't blame the strangers for showing up to party with them. :D
