We have two Wimpy's in Southend, one in town and the other down the seafront. KFC has taken a hit though, used to be three of them and now we are just down to one after the others were closed down. And it's no where near the town centre.

*sigh* bit of my false Anglo-nostalgia . . . disappointing to see/imagine American chachki franchise strip mall blight sprawling across old Albion.

Much prefer the image of an whole island filled with this sort of bucolic scene . . .

Are there no Popeye’s locations in the UK?

There are but they are pretty rare. There isn't one anywhere near my town. The common ones here are McDonalds, KFC, Burger King and Wimpy.

:(

While KFC is OK, Popeyes is clearly the superior chicken place.

Sargon's posted video regarding this event:

It looks like comments are still disabled.

I’ll have to provide some pics of where I live, the westcountry is about as close to that as reality gets.

Based on my experience with a caver buddy who owned a small cottage in Calne, those buildings might be as old as 500 years old!

I find that very appealing somehow. Arousing even . . .Weird thought . . . impregnating your wife in a 500 year old cottage would be awesome.

. . . well I don't mean YOUR wife, so much as "ONE [an hypothetical fellow, who was the owner/caretaker of such an hypothetical 500 year old cottage] impregnating HIS wife in a 500 year old cottage . . . " :P

I did come away from the months I spent traveling around England, Wales and Scotland with a profound sense of the pervasive prurience around the isles though . . . but never managed to hook up with a single English broad, either in the UK or any of the Commonwealth realms :(

Picture with the local pub would be nice. And the page in the Camra's Good Beer Guide would be much appreciated. ;)

Going by the yellow limestone used to build those cottages, I would say Anthro's pic is from the Cotswolds. Here's a typical Cotswolds pub...

I was in Cirencester 1987, QA course on Windows programming. First evening I found Brewers Arms, the best beer there was Arkell's Kingsdown Ale. Pretty good.

Image

Next evening I was on a beer tour around Cirencester pubs with the the publican's son Shane. On Wednesday the same with cider.

And on Thursday evening I tried to be smart, ordered a pint five minutes before the last orders. Then I had to powder my nose, and when I came back to the table, I found three pints before me. Those rascal fellow coders were telling me that I have 30 minutes time to sip up the three pints: hic Rhodus, hic salta. Without any problems I could waste the ale, but I didn't join the merry fellows to their hotel to drink up their cognac. I didn't like the French stuff so much in that situation. Though I don't fancy cognac anyway, Koskenkorva is my thing.

BTW the pub in your picture is The Cotswold Arms, High Street Burford, Oxfordshire. Serving Arkell too. ;)

I like Cotswolds.
