Imagine if all this outrage was channeled into something constructive? Too many people with too much free time. And before anybody says anything it's lunch time and I'll be putting in a 12 hour day today. :)

If it wasn't being fueled by anarchists and commies I could see myself being on board with changing some statues... history eventually passes beyond the horizon and new statues are made.... I would very much like to put the civil war behind me.... but of course they've poisoned the idea.. so naturally the urge to resist wins...

I think the benefit of the ACW statues WAS to put the war behind us ... to say ... we had our differences ... we settled it .. .and now we are one nation again ... and we embrace ALL of us regardless of our past allegiances ... we forgive and move forward together ... that's the way I've always looked at those statues ...

I am just curious, but I think that most of the statues were erected 50 to 60 years after the civil war. During the the second coming of the KKK.

May be I am wrong, but tell me. ;)

To some degree yes. But the willingness to allow the "Lost Cause / State Rights" mythos created subsequent problems. Honestly, reconstruction probably should have lasted another 50 years. Oh well, missed opportunity there.
