Everyone including Gump forgets the Dems started the KKK basically. Hell, most of the statues were put up during the 1950's during the Jim Crow days when the Dems ran everything in the south.

So how about banning the Dems and everyone in it from ever voting again since they belong to the party of racist before tearing down some statues that honor SOLDIERS. Bulldoze the Lincoln memorial, he was a racist too. EVERY white back then was basically a racist. Be they from the north or the south.

The party of Identity Politics suffers from selective perception.

Saw this linked and/or posted at Ace of Spades:

Quote:
In Canada:

On Friday's show, I reported on the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario (ETFO) asking schools districts to rename schools named after John A. Macdonald.

Ontario teachers' union wants to erase Canadian history

The ETFO is marketing this as anti-racism, due to Macdonald's support for the residential school system.
It's similar to the recent confrontation in Halifax over the statue of Edward Cornwallis.

In Australia:

Vandals deface Hyde Park statues in Australia Day protest

* Cameron Mee, James Robertson

Indigenous journalist Stan Grant has slammed the defacement of a number of statues in Hyde Park overnight as appalling and disgraceful.

Between 2.25am and 3.15am on Saturday, the statues of former NSW governor Lachlan Macquarie and Captain Cook were spray-painted with the words "Change the date" while the statue of Captain Cook was also spray-painted with "No pride in genocide".

So at Ace of Spades they are asking:
"Maybe this whole statue thing is about Marxists destroying Western Civ and not about ending racism..."

It is, but the Confederacy isn't part of "Western Civ" anymore than Nazism or the Democratic party.

Columbus, Jefferson, Sir Francis Bacon, Martin Luther King Jr., Marie Curie, Francis Ford Coppola . . . yeah, all "part" of Western Civ. They are not defeated, disempowered, destroyed, and eschewed both legally, ethically, and pragmatically.

It might have to do with incrementalism though.

Today it's "let's remove statues of Nazis and Confederates".
(Most if not almost everyone will agree to that)

Next week it's "let's remove statues of slave holders because they were evil" (but included in that are the US slaveholding Founidng Fathers)
(Many will agree to that, because slavery is unacceptable through today's morality prism)

The week after it is "let's remove statues of Columbus, and other explorers who brought death and disease to natives"

And the week after that it's "let's remove statues of those that ever supported a racist/sexist/xxxxx'ist law"

And then after that it's "let's remove statues of (insert your own pet peeve)"

With each step it becomes easier to remove statues of one group, because you have already removed statues of the prior group.

And you can't say this isn't possible/likely because we have already seen examples of it (calls for statues and monuments of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Columbus to come down being the best examples of that).

What do Cornwallis, Columbus and R E Lee have in common?

Not very much is the answer. Only two things as far as I can tell.

White (and Columbus barely so) :)
Y chromosome

No racism here. Move along.

Here is the denial:

Quote:
John says his production team was not involved in the posting by Casting Networks. He does acknowledge he's shooting a politically-themed music video though ... and, as you'd expect, took a jab at 45.

Here is the actual casting call with the original wording.
http://www.tmz.com/2017/09/03/john-lege ... -of-shape/
Sounds like a parsed denial to me "not my production team". Imagine Clint Eastwood was making a Black Panthers movie and he sent out a casting call for "Angry black men but no bones in noses"

Quote:
John Legend's searching for some folks who look like they love President Trump, and in his opinion ... that means they should be old and overweight.

According to a listing on Casting Networks in L.A., the musician's upcoming music video project needs several actors to play protesters on a set resembling a rally/counterprotest ... including 8 white men and women, 30-65 years old, "preferably out of shape" to play Trump supporters.

The casting call's also for 8 black men and women ages 18-35 to play Black Lives Matter protesters, and 10 young and blonde white males ages 18-35, presumably to play alt-right protesters ... with "very short hair or short on sides, long on top."

The listing for the Trump supporters is the only one that mentions a preferred body type and includes a photo for reference .... this one below.

Legend's also on the hunt for 2 females -- one white and one Hispanic -- to share a kiss in the video with the protest going on. The casting sheet says, "We want to show that there is no segregation in love. But just two human beings of any race or color."

The shoot's set for Friday.

Finland will give asylum for all oppressed statues from all around the world. Be it a Stalin statue (if there are left), Lenin, all confederate generals, you name it.

There will a deposed statues theme park, a great tourist attraction for any political or religious leaning.

We will give refugium to Japanese piece of art, if necessary.

Give us your unnecessary statues. ;)
