And the latest in political violence comes to us from Hyannis, Massachusetts:

Woman accused of hitting car in Hyannis after confrontation over Trump bumper sticker

By Kristen Young
BARNSTABLE — A Taunton woman accused of intentionally driving into a man’s car a month ago after becoming enraged by a Trump bumper sticker pleaded not guilty Monday in Barnstable District Court to a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon.

Chloe Wright, 25, also faces charges of vandalizing property and leaving the scene of property damage. She was released on $1,250 bail and was ordered to stay away from the victim.

On June 30, a man called Barnstable police to report a hit-and-run crash. He told responding officers he had been driving south on Bearses Way in Hyannis, and was stopped for a red light at the intersection of Route 28 when the driver of the car behind him began honking the horn, according to a police report.

The man continued driving onto Bassett Lane and the car followed, with the driver still honking, the man told police, according to the report. When he stopped again for a red light at the intersection with North Street, the driver also began yelling, the man said.

Thinking that something might be wrong with the back of his car, the man stepped out into the road. The driver began yelling at him about a Donald Trump bumper sticker on the back of his car, he told police.

“She said, ‘You voted for Trump?’” the man wrote in a statement. “I said yes. She called me a racist and several other names.”

As the man began recording the incident on his phone, the woman drove around his car, prompting him to step back into the driver’s side door opening, he told police, according to the report. The woman then drove at him and hit the open door, he said, according to the report.

“She bent my door and I had to lean back to avoid getting hit,” the man wrote. “She also hit the side of my car.”

The woman drove away down North Street, the man told police.

The man’s recording of the incident shows the woman’s car, a gray Honda Civic, drive around his car and hit the open driver’s-side door, according to the report. A statement by the man’s girlfriend, who was in the car with him during the incident, confirmed the man’s account, the report says.

She loses her mind over a bumper sticker, tries to hit the guy with her car, and gives a false address. There's a zero or two missing on that bail amount most anywhere other than the People's Republic of Massachusetts.

OK, but the guy taunted her with a Trump bumper sticker, that should wipe her slate clean and put him behind bars.

A Trump bumper sticker is no more (and no less) obnoxious than this one:

I don't think that the "C" has shown a history of peacefully coexisting with the rest of those letters.

There was a rally in Portland over the weekend.

The Patriot Prayer/Proud Boy groups had the rally permit and were protesting for free speech.

There are a bunch of videos on YT about it.

Here is a post event video from Tim Pool discussing which group was responsible for the violence that occurred there:

Another student thought it was appropriate to rip someone's hat off their head and then slap a teacher:

Student Who Took Classmate’s MAGA Hat Says She Was Making Political Statement

EL DORADO (CBS13) — A Union Mine High School student is facing battery charges after an altercation in her classroom over a Donald Trump “Make America Great Again” campaign hat.

Cellphone video shows some of the tension inside this high school classroom.

The teacher is seen trying to subdue fired-up 17-year-old senior Jo-Ann Butler, after she became enraged at a classmate for wearing the “Make America Great Again” hat.

She grabbed the hat off his head.

“That’s a racist and hateful symbol,” Butler said.

She is now facing two counts of battery, one against her classmate and one against her teacher who deputies say she slapped, as he escorted her from the room.

Butler says she made the scene to express her political feelings.

“Maybe just wake people up in some type of way, because it’s not cool the environment our classroom is in,” Butler said.

Her father says he does not approve of the way she behaved in class.

“Wasn’t handled the way I’d like it,” Chris Butler said.

Now he’s faced with the legal impact of his daughter’s now alleged criminal act. All centered around the political divide across the country.

“I don’t agree with grabbing someone’s hat and verbally talking to them in that way,” Chris Butler said. “But as far as the issue being brought up, maybe this is something that needs to be brought up.”

The El Dorado Union High School District’s clothing policy does allow students to wear political symbols.

A statement released by the district reads:

“…student and staff safety is our highest priority and the UMHS administration will continue to cooperate with the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office as the incident is being investigated.”

Besides her arrest, Jo-Ann Butler has been suspended from school for a week. The El Dorado County District Attorney will likely decide later this week whether she will be formally charged.

I give the girl's father credit for saying that her taking the hat was wrong.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (KTRK) --
The man seen throwing a drink in a teenager's face allegedly for wearing a Make America Great Again hat has been arrested.

Hunter Richard, 16, said the 30-year-old Kino Jimenez threw the drink in his face before leaving with his hat on Tuesday at a Whataburger in San Antonio.

Hunter said some of his hair was pulled out when the hat was ripped off his head.

Hunter was with some friends and they said the man was not provoked at all.

The video went viral with more than five million views after it was shared on Twitter.

"I didn't think it was going to generate that amount. Some people were like oh yeah, like this is uncalled for. And other people are like you know, just mixed opinions. But I didn't think it would blow up to what it is right now," Hunter said.

Days after Hunter filed a police report, Jimenez was arrested by the Universal City Police Department.

Police said Jimenez initially asked Hunter why he was wearing the hat and the teen responded by saying he was supporting the president.

Jimenez will be charged with theft of a person, according to KSAT. His bond was set at $5,000.

Whataburger released a statement saying they are shocked by the video and don't condone such behavior. They added that no Whataburger employee was involved or witnessed the incident.

Donald Trump Jr. came to the defense of Hunter and offered to get him a new hat.

"If someone can get me this young man's information, I'll get him a new #maga hat...SIGNED by #potus," he tweeted.

A report from Brazil of political violence:

Brazil far-right candidate Bolsonaro in serious condition after stabbing

JUIZ DE FORA, Brazil (Reuters) - The leading candidate in Brazil’s presidential election is in serious but stable condition after being stabbed by an assailant at a campaign rally on Thursday, doctors said, pushing an already chaotic campaign into further disarray.

Far-right firebrand Congressman Jair Bolsonaro, a controversial figure who has enraged many Brazilians for years with divisive comments, but has a devout following among conservative voters, could take two months to fully recover and will spend at least a week in the hospital, said Dr. Luiz Henrique Borsato, who operated on the candidate.

“His internal wounds were grave and put the patient’s life at risk,” Borsato said, adding that a serious challenge now would be preventing an infection that could be caused by the perforation of Bolsonaro’s intestines.

The attack on Bolsonaro, 63, is a dramatic twist in what was already Brazil’s most unpredictable election since the country’s return to democracy three decades ago. Corruption investigations have jailed scores of powerful businessmen and politicians in recent years, and alienated infuriated voters.

There were fears that violence could flare across Brazil on Friday, as the nation celebrates its Independence Day and political groups are expected to march in hundreds of cities. Bolsonaro’s rival candidates called off their campaign activities for Friday.

Castro Valley Man Accused Of Switchblade Assault On GOP Congressional Candidate

September 11, 2018 at 6:16 pm

[news video at above link]

CASTRO VALLEY (CBS SF) – A man was arrested on suspicion of felony assault and other charges after allegedly attempting to stab a Republican congressional candidate with a switchblade over the weekend at in Castro Valley, according to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office.

On Sunday, September 9, at approximately 3:45 p.m., deputies working at the Castro Valley Fall Festival were alerted to a possible knife attack at one of the vendor booths.

Deputies arrived at the booth and made contact with the victim, Republican candidate Rudy Peters, who is running against incumbent Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Dublin) for the 15th congressional district seat

The Castro Valley News first reported on the attack.

According to witnesses, 35-year-old Castro Valley resident Farzad Fazeli approached Peters at his booth in an aggressive manner and made disparaging, profanity-laced remarks about the Republican party and President Donald Trump.

During the incident, Fazeli allegedly pulled out a switchblade knife and attempted to stab Peters. The knife malfunctioned and the candidate became involved in a physical struggle with Fazeli, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Ray Kelly.

The suspect then fled the scene, but was detained a short time later by deputies and was found in possession of a switchblade knife, Kelly said.

Fazeli was arrested for felony assault, criminal threats, brandishing a weapon and possession of a switchblade knife and booked into Santa Rita Jail.

Peters wasn’t injured. Fazeli, who lists his occupation as cashier, was booked into Santa Rita Jail in Dublin on suspicion of felony assault, criminal threats, brandishing a weapon and possession of a switchblade knife.

Kelly said the case has been forwarded to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office for charging.

Peters talked to KPIX 5 about the frightening encounter Tuesday.

“He would have stabbed me,” Peters said. “I mean, he had it out saying, ‘I’m going to kill you MFer! I’m going to kill you!’ I could see his thumb trying to get the knife out.”

He said the encounters started with verbal threats.

“He picks up a coffee cup to rear back and throw it at us. And I jumped around the table. He throws the coffee cup and misses us. It hits the ground and breaks,” remembered Peters. “So I come out and grab him and wrestle him and throw him down to the ground.”

He said that was when Fazeli pulled out a knife.

“He’s screaming, ‘I’ll kill you MFer! I’ll kill you! I’ll kill you!’ And he’s kind of circling me trying to get the knife out,” said Peters

Fazeli made his first court appearance Tuesday for possession of a switchblade and threatening to commit great bodily injury or death. But Fazeli’s mother and attorney say he is the victim.

“My client at this point was afraid for his life and afraid for his health and safety. And I believe that it is alleged that he pulls out a folded knife. The knife was never opened,” argued defense attorney Frederick Remer.

Fazeli’s mother Dolly Adams was at the festival at the Democratic booth.

“Mr. Peters got physical first,” said Adams.

While she said she didn’t see what happened during the altercation, she talked to her son before he was arrested.

“He said that Mr. Peters has taken him by his shoulders and shoved him to the ground. And there was blood on him and blood on his booth,” said Green.

Peters said when Fazeli took out the knife, he shielded himself by reaching for one of his election signs for protection.

He said he never worried about his safety and the safety of his Republican supporters until now.

“I’ve asked my supporters and followers at open events, I don’t want them around me. I don’t want their safety in jeopardy,” said Peters.

On Tuesday, Swalwell posted on Twitter about the attack, saying he was “glad to hear Mr. Peters is okay.” He also discouraged the use of violence in any disagreement, political or otherwise.

Fazeli’s bail was set at $55,000. His family said they plan to get him out of county jail Tuesday night. He has a stay away order to keep his distance from Peters after the incident.

According to his campaign website, Peters is a founder and co-owner of AARD Solutions, a company that specializes in systems engineering and targets U.S. government intelligence agencies. He has lived in Livermore since 1991.
