... WASHINGTON (Reuters) - In the first two months after a June Supreme Court ruling allowed partial implementation of President Donald Trump’s travel ban, visas issued on average each month to citizens of six countries targeted by the order were 18 percent lower compared to the month prior to the ban, a Reuters analysis of government data shows.

The 3,268 visas issued in July and 3,884 visas issued in August to citizens of the six majority-Muslim countries were down from 4,351 issued in June. The July figure was lower than the monthly average at any point since 2007, when an average of 3,080 visas per month were issued to those countries.

The lower July and August numbers were especially noteworthy, immigration attorneys say, because a larger number of visas are typically issued in the summer months, as foreign students prepare to arrive in the United States for the fall semester.

“We are processing visa applications for nationals of the six affected countries as directed by the Executive Order and to the extent permitted by court decisions,” a State Department official said on condition of anonymity when asked about the lower numbers.

The decline comes on top of already plummeting figures for U.S. visas issued to citizens of Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen after Trump issued an executive order in late January halting entry of travelers from those countries for 90 days.

That order, and a more limited form of the ban issued in March, were hamstrung by months of legal challenges until the Supreme Court approved a limited version in June. But in the interim, the State Department issued far fewer visas to travelers from those six countries compared to the number issued in 2016 under the administration of President Barack Obama.

On Sunday, Trump issued a third version of the ban, which indefinitely restricts travelers from Iran, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, Chad and North Korea. Certain government officials from Venezuela will also be barred.

From March through June, a period when Trump’s order was mostly blocked by the courts, citizens of the six countries were issued an average of 3,929 visas monthly, 42 percent fewer than the 2016 monthly average of 6,799, according to State Department data. After the Supreme Court ruling, that monthly average was 47 percent lower than in 2016 ...

3884 visas from the BANNED countries in August compare to 4350 in June. BFD. That's like a 10% reduction.
Doubtless it was 400 Nobel Prize winners from Yemen denied their visas. This is after 500 news articles reporting were days away from Nazi Germany and about 1 million man hours of legal fees.

The Judicial Branch and moles in the State Dept are "resisting".

All of this over a constitutionally specified Executive power.

Rep Al Green, D, Texas postpones impeachemnt articles against Trump because of the Las vegas shooting.

That just shows how silly it is. If the Prezzy really was guilty of an impeachable offense then why would you wait? Guy should hae stuck to R&B

Rep. Al Green calls for President Trump's impeachment

Raw video: Democratic representative from Texas says the president is not above the law

Texas Rep. Al Green said Monday that he has canceled plans to file a resolution this week calling for President Trump's impeachment, in light of the mass shooting in Las Vegas.

Green said on the House floor that there is a time for all things but right now is a time to mourn -- after a lone gunman killed at least 58 people and wounded more than 500 others at a concert Sunday night on the Vegas strip.

“Impeachment is postponed. … Let us mourn. Let us heal,” said Green, allowing fellow House Democrats to avoid a potentially risky vote for now.

The attack in Vegas, from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, is the deadliest mass shooting in modern United States history.

While congressional Democrats uniformly oppose Trump, party leaders have pushed back on such early impeachment calls.

Any Democrat who votes to impeach could face a backlash, considering some live in districts or states Trump won and the party has struggled to win special elections all year on an anti-Trump message.

Green had teed up his resolution during a floor speech last week, condemning Trump’s attacks on NFL players who kneel during the national anthem. He vowed to file the impeachment articles, without saying on what grounds he would file them.

“I rise to denounce these comments that have been made because they have brought discourse to a new low,” Green said. “I will stand here in the well of the Congress and I will call for the impeachment of the president.”

New York Rep. Jerrold Nadler, a Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee where impeachment proceedings typically begin, told The Hill in response to Green’s threat: “We’re not there yet,” despite Trump having done “really terrible things.”

He also suggested that impeachment proceedings could be more effective later, saying, ”We don’t have the evidence. We don’t have the case. … You don’t want to discredit it by voting for impeachment resolutions before you have the facts.”

House rules indicate the filing of an impeachment article would trigger a floor vote within two days.

The GOP-controlled chamber would almost certainly reject the resolution should it return, but its filing would still result in a procedural vote that would likely have the same impact as a full House floor vote.
