Well, yes, he did have a head start by virtue of the fact that his father had been a US President (and his grandfather had been a US Senator).

He did have a successful business career before he got into politics (both in the oil business and as an investor/managing general partner of the Texas Rangers baseball franschise).
I read somewhere that while he ran the Rangers he often sat in the stands (normal seats) with the regular fans.
There was probably an air-conditioned private box that he could have sat in, rather than sitting out in the open at Arlington Stadium.
I mean just imagine how comfortable it would be sitting out in the open during the summer, in the Dallas area in an open air, non-roofed, non-air-conditioned baseball stadium.

Anne Applebaum probably irritates people here. :D

Never saw that interview before. Good post.

Given his politics, I wonder if Letterman is kicking himself now for having given Trump that platform.

Someone needs to crush his I-phone or whatever he's using. Mr. President needs to fixate on policy rather than political chickenshit created by former employees.

Definitely. If he would stay off Twitter he would seem a lot more Presidential.

And frankly, referring to a woman as a "dog" is just the worst sort of trolling that costs him support at the ballots. I would have voted for him in 2016 except that pussygate was too much for me to condone. Granted, it was a leftist press corps that leaked that little surprise, but he shoots his mouth off in like ways too often.

You could say that the democratic party lost me in the last decade, largely because of their embrace of critical race theory agenda. But the GOP has in no way secured my support. Trump has been good as a kind of spanner in the works, but it seems clear to me now that a bigger spanner needs to be tossed in. The current defense procurement bill is idiotic. The Deep State is still there and Trump is their patsy.
