I have just authorized a doubling of Tariffs on Steel and Aluminum with respect to Turkey as their currency, the Turkish Lira, slides rapidly downward against our very strong Dollar! Aluminum will now be 20% and Steel 50%. Our relations with Turkey are not good at this time!

WTF! :P

Is Trump channeling the spirit of Napoleon Bonaparte, or perhaps Augustus Caesar!?! The man has balls the size of the domes on the Blue Mosque!

That there's the fundamental difference between Christians and Muslims.

"Hey, running low of food again, are we?"

Muslim: "We have not been zealous enough! Kill all those less than zealous apostates to please Allah and he will provide for us!"

Christian: "God only cares for our souls but if we want these plants to grow we need to invent a superior crop rotation system. Let's also invent a tractor so we can better utilize our available land"

Muslim: "But that man building a steam engine, he is a blasphemer! Besides, if you have faith in Allah you'll never go wanting! Allah provides! You should kill him now before he further insults your God"

Christian: "Oh, he's a cheeky fellow ain't he? But his affair with God is his private matter. Meanwhile he's helping the whole of Christendom with his inventions so maybe God is helping us through him"

Muslim: "Oh, that'll never work!"

...Much later, at Omdurman

Muslim: "The cowards hide behind.. machine guns, rifled muskets, howitzers, battlefield discipline, logistics, meritocratic military, skilled and educated officers and.."

Muslim 2: "Oh quit it! Allah will grant us victory - CHAARGE!"

The finest achievements of the 7th century, baby. Allah forgot to give Bangladesh and Yemen any oil..so they are especially dire shitholes.

... This week tensions between the US and Turkey soared when Mr Trump raised tariffs on Turkish steel and aluminium from 20 percent to 50.

The levy came in the wake of the detention of Andrew Brunson, who has been held on terror charges, as well as Turkey’s continued trading with Iran, nation also sanctioned by Mr Trump in a bid to halt their nuclear weapon programme.

President Trump’s sanctions saw the Turkish lira plummet to a dangerous low yesterday, causing a financial crisis that has also threatened to crash the eurozone.

One US dollar bought 5.57 lira and the currency, which has dropped 30 percent in value since the start of the year, fell a further five percent in one day ...

Go trumpf Go !!

Do some more of that "economic warfare" kind of stuff !!! It seems to be working !

Where did Iran get the idea that Turkey is our ally?

Rouhani seems increasingly desperate. Turkey traded oil with fucking ISIS and set up hotels for ISIS related travel and R&R of ISIS homies. They are all a bunch of lying rug merchants but they were still mart enough to completely own Hussein and Skeletor

Quote:
Turkish Warships Harass and Intimidate Cypriot Fishermen in International Waters

Turkish warships are accused of harassing Greek Cypriot fishermen in international waters, threatening to tow boats and take crews prisoner.

Warships commanded by the Islamist government in Ankara are reported to have approached a Cypriot fishing boat belonging t24 nautical miles, according to the Cyprus Mail.

Captain Aristos Aristeidou said he was shocked by the command as Cypriots have been fishing in the area for years, but left — under escort — after the warships returned at 4 a.m. and threatened to tow the fishing boat to Turkey and imprison the crew.

The Turks often attempt to bully Cyprus, a Greek-speaking EU member-state with a population of only around 800,000. They invaded the country in 1974 — opening fire on British soldiers and journalists who were present on the island while doing so — and established the so-called ‘Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’ on the territory they illegally occupied.

The puppet state is not recognised by any country other than Turkey, but Ankara acts aggressively to protect its supposed interests.

For example, Turkish premier Recep Tayyip Erdoğan recently sent warships to prevent Italian oil prospecting ships licenced by the Greek Cypriot government from operating, with Ankara vowing it will not allow any wealth to be extracted from the Cypriot seabed unless it is shared with the occupied north.

Ankara also attempts to impose its will on Greece proper, with Turkish warplanes and naval vessels violating their European neighbour’s airspace and territorial waters hundreds or even thousands of times a year.

The Hellenic Air Force is often forced to scramble to intercept these incursions, which turned deadly when a Greek pilot crashed into the Aegean Sea and died during one of these missions in April.

Much of the Turkish state is established on land wrested from the Greek-speaking world by the Ottomans, in particular its European foothold in Istanbul (Constantinople) and East Thrace.

Turkish leaders have designs on Greek territory to this day, with the constant aggression in the Aegean being part of a strategy to forcefully assert claims on a number of Greek islands.

This is obviously a complete "Wag the Dog" scenario.

Fucked up the Turkish economy, did you? Lira falls by 50% in a week? Pick a fight with the most powerful nation on Earth?

No problem! Just send some hairy guys over to Cyprus to hassle Pammy's uncles.

It's funny how they first picked a fight with Russia, lost something like 2 million annual tourists from Russia and then lost the rest of their tourists because they just couldn't stop fucking with the Kurds (bombing the hell out of them) out of principle which led to retaliatory attacks.

And as Russia started to retaliate and fuck up their economy and prepare to support their dissident groups etc. they decided to suddenly pretend friends with Putin and start fucking with EU AND USA.

At the moment Putin doesn't like them and Russians don't like them but they are able to use Turkey by letting them believe that they are friendly - this feeds the Turkish delusions and causes immense tensions within NATO - the primary rival and threat to Russians and also threatens US presence in the area through Turkey's alliance while also being able to tell Erdogan to keep mounting pressure against EU where Merkel is playing for team Putin by wrecking the whole Union by suddenly making Islamization a Core Tenet of the Union and a non-compromise point of her Jihad.

Yes...and you left out Turkey antagonizing Israel by overtly supporting those Gaza convoys. Not to mention half of the Europeans who doubtless do not appreciate the cynical use of Syrian refugees as leverage. Then there is half the Turkish officer corps and the pathetic tantrum about that German comedian making fun of him.

They guy has soared to 2nd place behind Kim jong Un in the "Word's Biggest Asshole" competition.

Suspect detained after shots fired at US Embassy in Turkey

By ZEYNEP BILGINSOY

ISTANBUL (AP) — Shots were fired from a moving car at the U.S. Embassy in Turkey before dawn Monday, an attack that came during heightened tensions between the two NATO allies. Turkish state media said a suspect was detained.

There were no casualties and no claim of responsibility for the fleeting attack, in which three of the six bullets fired hit the embassy gate and a reinforced window.

“We can confirm a security incident took place at the U.S. Embassy early this morning. We have no reports of any injuries and we are investigating,” embassy spokesman David Gainer said. He thanked Turkish police for their “rapid response.”

Turkey’s official Anadolu news agency said one person was detained in Ankara. It did not elaborate.

Turkish officials, who are locked in a trade and diplomatic dispute with the United States, condemned the shooting in Ankara. Presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin tweeted that it was “an attempt to create chaos.”

A top official in Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party said the attack was a “clear provocation” and that foreign diplomats are guests of the country.

“The utmost sensitivity will be shown to ensure their security,” said the party spokesman, Omer Celik. “Turkey is a safe country.”

Shots were fired at a security booth outside the U.S. Embassy in Turkey’s capital, but U.S. officials said no one was hurt. Turkish media said the shots were fired from a white car and police were searching for it. (Aug. 20)

The interior minister said the motive for the attack was not immediately clear. Suleyman Soylu said the investigation would reveal whether it’s a “provocation following recent events” or a “common crime.”

The U.S. Embassy was planning to close at midday Monday anyway until the end of the week for the Islamic holiday of Eid al-Adha.

Tensions between the U.S. and Turkey are high, partly because of the case of Andrew Brunson, an American pastor who is being prosecuted in Turkey for alleged espionage and terrorism-related offenses.

He denies any wrongdoing and U.S. President Donald Trump has called for his immediate release.

Turkey has long criticized the United States for not agreeing to hand over Fethullah Gulen, a Muslim cleric accused by Turkish authorities of engineering an attempted coup in 2016. Gulen denies those allegations. Washington has told Turkey it must present convincing evidence for any extradition proceeding to go forward.

The Turkish lira has lost 38 percent of its value against the U.S. dollar since the beginning of the year and was hurt further by recent U.S. tariffs on Turkish steel and aluminum. Turkey’s economy is already vulnerable because of heavy foreign currency borrowing that fueled high growth for years.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, whose government imposed its own tit-for-tat tariffs on some American goods, alluded to the dispute with the U.S. in a pre-recorded holiday message.

“There is no difference between the direct attacks on our call to prayer and our flag and the attack on our economy,” said Erdogan. “Those who think they can make Turkey give in with the foreign exchange rate will soon see they are wrong.”

U.S. diplomatic offices have been targeted in the past in Turkey.

At least one suspect was wounded in a shooting outside the U.S. consulate in Istanbul in 2015. In 2013, a suicide bomber killed a Turkish guard and himself outside the embassy in Ankara.

In 2008, three assailants and three Turkish police officers died in a shootout outside the Istanbul embassy.
