It appears the French and Italians are now starting to agree about trying to help the would be immigrants in camps established in their starting countries or so.

Then again Austria and other countries are now forming a "Coalition of the willing" to oppose immigration, are trying to get Italy on board and are also wooing CSU from Germany. CSU tried to issue a statement to limit immigration ever so slightly but their government partners Merkel and her party prevented them from issuing the statement! It was simply about not accepting asylum seekers already rejected in other EU countries but even that was too much for Die Führerlein.

Way to go to antagonize the last few people who are trying to work with you. "Don't yield an inch" and "we will not straighten our lines" Die Führerlein shouts in her headquarters foam in her mouth. "I have some secret weapons that I will soon unleash to topple Trump too"

I wonder if her hands are starting to twitch uncontrollably yet. Other pro-EU leaders are trying to insist that "we should not speak of or mention any division or axis of division around immigration policy in the EU".

1. Denial
2. Anger
3. Bargaining
4. Depression
5. Acceptance

Different EU leaders are at different stages. Die Führerlein is still strongy in active denial, others are voicing their denial out loud which is a sign of losing the ability to deny as they have to bring those topics up constantly.

Anger - yes and a bunch of people have already begun to bargain. We saw a lot of anger to depression following Trump in US. We're still not yet there in EU.

This thing more than anything is tearing EU apart. It has also done something that seemed impossible 15 years ago - it has made far right groups and nationalism surge from being 100% marginalized to being now in position to threaten the usual coalitions. But denial isn't going to make it all go away. Denial has been going on for 15 years now and it has only made the thing to be denied ever worse and larger to the extent that the elephant is no longer in the room. It is wrecking the room and bumping into people in it.

Rescue ships dock in Spain as migrant debate roils Europe

By RENATA BRITO and IAIN SULLIVAN and JOSEPH WILSON

VALENCIA, Spain (AP) — Ships in the Aquarius aid convoy docked Sunday at the Spanish port of Valencia, ending a weeklong ordeal for hundreds of people who were rescued from the perilous Mediterranean only to become the latest pawn in Europe’s battle over immigration.

The Italian coast guard vessel Dattilo was the first of the three boats bearing the 630 migrants to touch land just before 7 a.m. Sunday. The 270 migrants on board soon began to disembark after medical staff had made a preliminary inspection.

The rescue ship Aquarius came in four hours later with another 106 migrants. Aid workers awaiting their arrival clapped and cheered as the first migrants walked down the gangway. Another Italian navy ship, the Orione, came in shortly after 1 p.m.

The Aquarius, operated by the aid groups SOS Mediterranee Sea and Doctors Without Borders, was stuck off the coast of Sicily on June 9 when Italy refused it permission to dock and demanded that Malta do so. Malta also refused.

After days of bickering and food and water running low on the ship, Spain stepped in and granted the rescue boat entry. The 1,500-kilometer (930-mile) journey across the Mediterranean from Sicily to Valencia took nearly a week.

Aquarius is just people smuggling.

From Libyan waters to Spain. That's not a rescue operation.

They should all be arrested really. One day they probably will be, but the general population will need to get a lot more pissed off.

Fully agree.

Too bad they've gotten away with so much of it.

What did that one guy say at the end: "Hear Hear".

I second that.

Still back in the day I remember when some of the left were concerned about "human trafficking crime" as deplorable exploitation of humans as a commodity and so, all the problems of human slavery etc. that resulted as a side effect from it all.

Nowadays they've made it an ideological holy cow to support organized criminal gangs that engage in smuggling and human trafficking which often also involves slavery - taking the papers off of the victims and then redirecting them elsewhere.

Well, it is sad to say that, but as long as those criminal gangs are non-white, the left considers them as victims, not as criminals. That was the case when a guy from the left in France said that he was happy that a gendarme was killed by a terrorist some monthes ago. I am sure that he saw that terrorist as a victim, only because he was a Muslim. You can kill father and mother, as long as you are not white, it is ok, we will help you.
