I heard something similar earlier today.

The proof will be in the pudding (meaning we have to watch to see what Mexico does or doesn't do in this case)

Figures: Caravan Organizers Vow to Continue March to US Border, Plan Crossing from Baja California

Hours after it was reported that the Mexican government was putting an end to the illegal migrant caravan headed through Mexico to the United States, organizer Pueblos Sin Fronteras claimed the caravan would continue.

There were also reporte the caravan would cross into the U.S. from Baja California.

Continued at above link

A) given the press coverage of this it should be relatively easy to follow them to see where they intend to cross the border
B) at the same time, this entire thing could simply be a deception----engineered by narco-human traffickers who are using the attention given to this to attempt border crossings at points elsewhere. ICE/BP moves assets to deal with the "caravan" and then the traffickers cross at points that are either unguarded or points from which assets have been moved to deal with the caravan.

They aren't going to cross illegally. They are going to walk up to a border crossing and claim refugee status. They have started coaching them on what to say. What the US should do is take everyone's name, give 'em a hot meal and a shower and some clean clothes and then put everyone on air conditioned luxury coach for a trip down to the Marine base where a band welcomes them aboard USS Tarawa for a pleasant trip to Gitmo to await there refugee denials.

A caravan of Central American migrants whose trek across Mexico infuriated President Donald Trump has decided not to travel to the US border, leaders said Tuesday.

"There are too many children -- 450 in all. There are lots of babies. Hopping the train, as we did in the past, would have been crazy," he said.

The caravan now plans to travel to the central city of Puebla for a conference, then on to Mexico City for a series of demonstrations -- and end its journey there.

Hmmm? Something very odd here. Was it just a PR stunt? A bluff?

Did the Mexican government get to them over the NAFTA threat?

My bet is that it is smoke and mirrors.

The Mex. government got the NGO to officially say that they were stopping the caravan in Mexico City....meanwhile I have seen reports that many of the caravan participants indicated that they will continue north to the US border and beyond.

Report: AG Sessions Freezes Aid Program for Illegal Migrants

by NEIL MUNRO10 Apr 2018907

Attorney General Jeff Sessions is temporarily shutting down a taxpayer-funded advice service for the huge numbers of illegal migrants who drive down blue-collar wages throughout the United States, according to the Washington Post.
The program, dubbed the Legal Orientation Program, paid various left-wing groups to provide immigration-court advice to migrants, according to the Washington Post. The program helped roughly 53,000 migrants during 2017, the Post said.

The shutdown spotlights the administration’s efforts to reform the nation’s business-oriented immigration system, which annually delivers at least one million additional cheap workers and taxpayer-aided consumers to businesses, and up to one million government-dependent voters to the Democratic Party. Overall, the nation’s migration policy shifts at least $500 billion per year from young Americans up to investors, employers, real-estate owners, and migration-industry progressives.

Migration advocates, including immigration lawyers who sell slices of American citizenship, quickly showed their resentment about the loss of the taxpayer subsidy, which has been run by the huge Vera Institute of Justice since 2005. According to the Washington Post:

“This is a blatant attempt by the administration to strip detained immigrants of even the pretense of due-process rights,” said Mary Meg McCarthy, executive director of the National Immigrant Justice Center, one of the organizations that offers the legal services with Vera.

At least 600,000 migrants have applied for asylum via the clogged immigration court system, and roughly 1 million migrants have received final orders of deportation, but have not yet been sent home.

Another shameful attack on fairness and due process. Most asylum seekers never get a lawyer. Now DOJ is eliminating the only life-line guiding them through the baffling & byzantine immigration system. Dept of INJUSTICE will send many back to life-threatening persecution. https://twitter.com/mariasacchetti/stat ... 5515664384

Migration-industry officials refer to migrants as “immigrants,” as if they have already been approved for legal immigration by Americans.

More terrible news from the Trump administration. The end of the Legal Orientation Program (LOP) will have a huge impact on detained immigrants and organizations supporting them. https://twitter.com/nijc/status/983849719490375680

According to Vera, the suspended LOP program:

… educates detained immigrants about their rights and the immigration court process so that they can make informed decisions about their legal cases. Vera works with 18 nonprofit legal service providers to offer orientations about defenses against removal (deportation) and the court process, as well as to assist in the process of seeking pro bono representation. The program, funded by the Executive Office of Immigration Review (EOIR) and administered by Vera, operates at 38 detention facilities across the country.

A 2008 report on the LOP program suggests it helped many migrants win green cards

Grant rates for unrepresented LOP participants who received more intensive levels of service were five times those of participants who received group orientations alone (4.1 percent versus 0.77 percent) and three times the grant rate of comparison groups (4.1 percent versus 1.4 percent) …

LOP participants who received more intensive services had I-589 [residency requests] grant rates of 9.4 percent versus 2.4 percent for those LOP participants who attended group orientations alone.

A 2012 report on the program suggested taxpayers aided 29,000 illegals but did not say how many won their deportation hearings. But even a 5 percent gain in 2012 would have added up to almost 1,500 extra migrants, plus families and chain-migration relatives.

The reports do not calculate the costs of the program’s imposition of low-skill migration on blue-collar and white-collar Americans.

The news about LOP’s temporary shutdown does not mention if Sessions’ Justice Department will also freeze funding for a second Vera-run advice program for illegals. The 2016 program is called the “Immigration Court Helpdesk.” According to Vera:

The Immigration Court Helpdesk (ICH) program educates non-detained immigrants in removal (deportation) proceedings about the court process. The goal of ICH is to help individuals make informed decisions about their legal cases and, in doing so, improve the efficiency and effectiveness of immigration court proceedings. Vera works with five nonprofit legal service providers, who offer sessions about the immigration court process generally and potential defenses from removal. The program, funded by the Executive Office of Immigration Review (EOIR) and administered by Vera, operates at five immigration courts across the country.

EOIR also funds the “Legal Orientation Program for Custodians of Unaccompanied Alien Children,” the “BIA [Board of Immigration Affairs] Pro Bono Project,” the “Baltimore Representation Initiative for Unaccompanied Children” and other taxpayer-funded programs to help illegal immigrants.

Four million Americans turn 18 each year and begin looking for good jobs in the free market.

But the federal government inflates the supply of new labor by annually accepting roughly 1.1 million new legal immigrants, by providing work-permits to roughly 3 million resident foreigners, and by doing little to block the employment of roughly 8 million illegal immigrants.

The Washington-imposed economic policy of economic growth via mass-immigration shifts wealth from young people towards older people, it floods the market with foreign labor, spikes profits and Wall Street values by cutting salaries for manual and skilled labor offered by blue-collar and white-collar employees. It also drives up real estate prices, widens wealth-gaps, reduces high-tech investment, increases state and local tax burdens, hurts kids’ schools and college education, pushes Americans away from high-tech careers, and sidelines at least 5 million marginalized Americans and their families, including many who are now struggling with opioid addictions.

You know what Gregory, Silky & Claudia....you are welcome to start up a GoFundMe page to support those groups if you wish.

A local story to central Florida.

This happened on Sunday in Sarasota County:

Quote:
http://www.sarasotasheriff.org/news_detail_T13_R598.php

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public’s help to identify a vehicle involved in an aggravated battery incident that occurred Sunday in Sarasota.

At 5:00 p.m., deputies were alerted to a possible road rage incident near the intersection of Beneva Road and Riviera Drive. One of the witnesses recorded the hit and run incident on his cell phone. The video shows the victim riding a motorcycle traveling southbound on Beneva Road behind a grey Mazda 3 hatchback. The motorcyclist changes lanes and drives alongside the Mazda where the motorcyclist appears to be in a dispute with the other driver. The video then shows the motorcyclist hit the window of the Mazda before the driver swerves, striking the motorcyclist and causing him to crash on the side of the road. The video was released on social media by a witness Sunday evening and is now being shared by detectives in hopes that someone can identify the suspect’s vehicle.

The Mazda appears to be grey in color, with a large white decal on the back window. Anyone with information related to this incident, vehicle or possible driver is asked to contact the Criminal Investigations Section at 941.861.4317.

Turns out they caught the driver:

Quote:
SARASOTA, Fla. -
Deputies arrested a driver accused of running a motorcyclist off the road on Sunday.

A now-viral video shows the road rage incident play out near the intersection of Beneva Road and Riviera Drive in Sarasota.

"Detectives arrested Magdiel Medrano-Bonilla, 30, of Sarasota, in connection with the road rage video that went viral earlier this week," the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post.

Medrano-Bonilla is from El Salvador and is an illegal alien, according to the sheriff's office.

During the investigation, deputies said the Mazda seen in the video was quickly found although it was hidden along Lime Avenue.

The vehicle was stripped of its license plate, doors, and windows, and deputies believe Medrano-Bonilla was going to destroy the vehicle to avoid being charged. Nonetheless, he's facing charges of aggravated battery and driving without a license.

Medrano-Bonilla came to the United States from Texas on March 1, 2014, according to deputies. He was detained and released with an anticipated deportation hearing set for Dec. 2019.

In the video, a motorcyclist can be seen riding alongside a Mazda when the two drivers appear to be in some sort of altercation.

Then, the motorcyclist hit the window of the Mazda, leading the driver of the Mazda to swerve into the motorcycle causing him to crash on the side of the road.

The investigation is ongoing.

The Sarasota County Sheriff had a press conference earlier today with an update regarding thisL

I had no idea there were 600,000 asylum claims pending. That is complete bull crap. That's why asylum claims are better than crossing illegally.

There is literally no possible way to adjudicate those claims quickly so everybody gets to stay while the claim is adjudicated.

Get this....immigration judges are UNIONIZED so they are fighting Session's order to speed things up.
