New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is proposing a ban on the sale of large sodas and other sugary drinks in the city’s restaurants, delis and movie theaters in the hopes of combatting obesity. Aside from coffee, soda is the life blood of many cartoonists, so when politicians threaten to limit their intake, naturally they become leery.

Can anyone even imagine telling another person what sized soda you'll "allow" him to buy?

The gobmint is completely out of control. They're batshit crazy. I don't know who the fuck these ppl think they are but they need to get checked b/c this is beyond absurd.

Yeha: Keep ur grubby fuckin hands off my soda. My sugar intake and what sized soda I want to buy is none of ur GODS DAMBED BIDNESS.

I remember when the vaunted 'FREE healhcare bill" was passed.

Then the dire predictions that the gobmint will then feel entitled to dictate what you eat an drink.

"That's crazy talk they'll never do that!" I was told. It's not even in effect yet. Already a gobmint pinhead is jumping the gun.

"I hearby decree a ban on 32oz sodas!"

Hear ye hear ye!

Oh my gods

Good to see that all of New York's problems are fixed and they are on to this. I'm sure the Mayor waited till he got the call that the last criminal was arrested and the last pothole fixed before worrying about this issue.

I don't understand the 'eye roll' perhaps the intervention from the central scrutinizer should go so far as surgery to combat an individuals eating habits and disorder regardless if they feel the have a problem or not? Its a nice chart and its useless outside of its myopic view of of if x = bad source of calories and y = a large consumption of x ...
again ? why not just corral up all the fatties to liposuction camp...
CS has a valid point...the leaders give out ebt food cards with no restrictions to what can be purchased, from twinkies to ho-ho's to trading them in for 40-ohs and New Yawk decides large size sodas need to be outlawed? Maybe the pizza parlor owners don't pay the bag man on the windfall from 2 slices and a large ? :)
