I've enjoyed reading brit headlines even since I was a little kid ... complete non-sense ... but great for a good laugh !!
I don't know how two groups can use the same "language" and yet have no idea what each other are saying :D

Case in point !!!

Quote:
... England were bowled out for 67 on the second day of the third Test by Australia, who are on the verge of retaining the Ashes ...

Jabberwokky !!!

That is clearly in reference to the International Cheer Union Championships. What it is saying is that the English cheerleaders fell down ("bowled out" Brit slang) while they were in one of those cheerleader "pyramid" forms, and as a result lost 67 points on their Test match against Australia. The ashes is in reference to the trophy which is the urn containing the ashes of last years last place losers in the annual Championships.

It's just like baseball! What's the problem?

In Baseball, players don’t use a flat bat or wear hockey goalie pads. ;-)

You don't wanna get hit by a cricket ball without some protection... just like a baseball guy has a big mitt to catch the ball with!

Baseball players wear a “cup” for protection.
The use of the mitt was introduced because the rough hands of the players were wearing out the baseballs too quickly. ;-)

Cricket balls are pretty heavy, and they are going pretty damn fast too when pros play...

Poor umpires, not as on the ball (heh) as the players, not wearing body armour... check out 2:23, ball meets balls.
