Half of Brit voters don't know who the leader of the liberal Democrats party is...

Quote:
Fewer than half of the public know who Tim Farron is, according to a new poll.

The leader of the Liberal Democrats has travelled thousands of miles on his yellow battle bus across the length and breadth of Britain trying to convince voters to back his party.

He has been photographed in a hover craft on a beach, he has had a row with a Leave voter and taken part in a fun run in full view of the ever present television cameras.

Yet the party's poll rating has barely moved and now a new survey of people by the pollsters Opinium has found that 52 per cent of voters cannot name the Lib Dem leader.

The study also found that nearly one in five people in Britain do not know Theresa May is the leader of the Conservative party.

It also revealed that 12 per cent of those surveyed couldn’t correctly identify Jeremy Corbyn as Labour leader.

Ed Fulton, political trading spokesman for Sporting Index, said: “Theresa May, Jeremy Corbyn and Tim Farron have spent big to make sure they are as recognisable as possible, but according to our research, a large percentage of the population still don’t know who they are.

"This could indicate an apathy from the British public to politics, or that the likes of May, Corbyn and Farron simply aren’t charismatic enough to be remembered."

It came as Mr Farron said the Manchester Arena bombing should not be "politicised" for election gain.

He called for communities to come together in the wake of the atrocity as he urged political leaders to resist the temptation to exploit what had happened.

He told the Press Association: "This is not a time for us to be pointing the finger.

"It is very tempting, isn't it, for politicians to try and score points and to make some political capital, and it's important to resist that temptation."

An election notable by the fact that even more than usual, all the party leaders are utter fuckwits, hapless, incompetent, uncharismatic, clueless, and probably a few more insulting things I've not thought of yet.

Theresa May has managed to fuck up just about everything in this election campaign. You'd need a heart of stone not to laugh; her political honeymoon expired right in the middle of it.

Uh, didn't that just "politicize it?"

Politicians are supposed to be our leaders, God help us. That means when shit goes down I expect solutions to be presented, so we can vote accordingly. "Politicising" it, that's what they are supposed to do.

This bell end would be telling Churchill to stop politicising the Nazis in 1940.

Well I gathered early on that Corbyn was a dud but May seemed sufficiently ruthless as to be efficient ... what happened?

Hubris happened.

FIrst thing she did, was say she wanted to legalise foxhunting with hounds. That incensed all the bunny huggers, and for no real reason, it's such a non-issue.
Second thing she did, was say she wanted to claw back some end of life care costs with increased inheritance tax. This pissed off all the old people - her core vote at that.
Third thing she did, was say she wanted total control over the internet (some genuinely quite worrying and probably un-implementable bilge) to 'clamp down on terror' and all that shite. That pissed off all the students and libertarians.
Fourth thing she did, was say that she 'was not a Thatcherite' and that she believed in 'strong, interventionist government' to manage the markets. This pissed off all the Thatcherites.

Bear in mind, socialists won't be voting for her anyway, and neither will ardent Europhiles.

Who is left to vote for her now?

That is sometimes the risk that you may have if you try to reach consensus with those that have opposing views.
You may be unable to reach that consensus with those that have little to no desire to agree to anything, and in the process you may alienate some of those that support you.

Yeah, but she had a 20 point lead before she opened her trap.

Is it really so hard for her to comprehend that things like total internet control are not popular? I think she's just totally out of touch. Corbyn is even more useless but... elections tend to be lost, not won, and if May manages to look a complete ogre then she will lose.

You have much more knowledge on the election and the political goings on in the UK, so I will defer to you.

Sounds like she didn't need to reach consensus and has aliened her supporters while not gained her detractors in larger numbers ... the votes will speak for themselves!
