This sounds good ...

Quote:
The Conservatives have made the biggest gains by a governing party in a local election for more than 40 years.
With five weeks to go to the general election, they gained more than 500 seats and seized 11 extra councils.
The gains mainly came at the expense of Labour, which came third in Scotland, and UKIP, which lost all of its seats. The Lib Dems failed to make headway.
Polling expert John Curtice puts the Tories' national vote share at 38%, Labour 27%, Lib Dems 18% and UKIP 5%.

Though I don't understand how you can have an election before the election?

:D

Local election, so all the county and district councils. The guys who get to mismanage who takes the bins out and that sort of thing.

Apparently they really enjoy "having elections" over there; more than we do! Which is a bit puzzling given we fought them to get our "freedom" to have elections and what not

Anyway, it all seems pretty damn democratic to me, and even their _worst_ statesmen at least present the appearance of being more professional and capable than ours . . .

ROFL

omg what a train wreck. Some of the other congressmen listening to those semi-coherent rants must think of them as comic relief.

Theresa May fucked up good and proper there. If she doesn't fall on her sword there must be a lot of Tories lining up to backstab her.

Looks like she'll have 318, just shy of the magic 326 (it's actually a bit less than that needed, as Sinn Fein's MPs do not take their seats so there are in practice slightly fewer than 650 MPs). But the Democratic Unionist Party in Northern Ireland is super right wing and there are 10 MPs from them. They've already said they'll support T.May, so with them she might just squeak over the line... just.

I guess Northern Ireland is going to get a fair few bribes about now...

Also... I assume there will be another election fairly soon. There's already talk of one in October.

I would think that if there is another election in October then T. May has about ninety to one hundred twenty days to convince people that she knows what she is doing or the Tories are fucked.

Yeah. Plus election fatigue, people are already miffed at all this polling going on, and she's getting the blame.

They really need to kick her out.
