Sort sort of incident occurred about an hour ago outside Parliament in London:
People mowed down by an auto.
The driver then crashed the car into the fence surrounding Parliament.
The driver exiting and tried to make his way towards Parliament.
An unarmed officer attempted to stop the person but was stabbed by him.
An armed officer (possibly an officer tasked with security at Parliament) shot the attacker.
Reports are that 1 person is dead, and several more injured.
Police are treating this as a terror attack.

Of course these are all initial reports and subject to confirmation and the (figurative) "fog of war".

Watching a statement now by a spokesman for Scotland Yard:

Four dead, and at least 20 injured. One dead is a police officer, another dead is the attacker.
At least one attacker.
The officer that was killed was an armed police officer.
This is a "terror" event.
Police processing the scene for evidence.
Area is on lockdown.

This is the poor fellow who is (was, I guess, as he is no longer on this plane as I understand it) no doubt mentally ill.

Was looking for Alan's snackbar and took a wrong turn I imagine.

I don't have a news source link for this as it was posted by an individual on a DISCORD site that I am a member of:

Quote:
"Suspected London Terrorist Named As Hate preacher Abu Izzadeen"
a known protestor for sharia in the UK, and he has publically called for attacks on police in the past

Quote:
Wir schaffen das
Abu Izzadeen is an Islamist propagandist and radical cleric who has been imprisoned in the United Kingdom for inciting and fundraising for terrorism* and for association with radical Islamist groups Al Ghurabaa and al-Muhajiroun.* Izzadeen also uses Twitter to praise ISIS* and well-known jihadists such as Abu Rumaysah* and Omar Bakri Muhammad.

Quote:
born in London, converted to Islam at age 17.

I've never seen a photo ( or even heard of this "Abu Izzadeen" so I can't confirm that this is him against the photos of the shot suspect we saw earlier today.

But if it does pan out to be accurate.....how soon before we hear some asshat utter the worthless phrase "This had nothing to do with Islam"?

Quote:
Nothing is yet known about the motivations behind Wednesday’s incident.

The attack took place on March 22, one year to the day since a coordinated string of attacks in Brussels left 32 people dead. More than 100 were wounded in the series of blasts at that nation’s biggest airport and a metro station. The Islamic State claimed last year’s attack.

http://www.vocativ.com/413723/injuries- ... arliament/

I think the shlub journalist answered his own question.

The Brussels attack was conducted by a group of 5 Muslim men and responsibility for the attack was claimed by ISIL.
Today's London attack was one year to the date of the Brussels attack and (allegedly) conducted by a known jihadist.

If you don't see a connection there then you have been living in a cave for the last 15-20 years.

It's like 1984. The cultists, through an act of the will, refuse to see the obvious truth, because the truth is not politically acceptable.

Amazingly powerful metaphor.

The brand diversification has only begun!

Stefan opines eloquently already

Not sure to make of this one though. Life imitating art?
