I do realize that propaganda throughout the war was used to keep up people’s morale, particularly during the early phases where the US suffered loses and seemed to be on the defensive.

I think some propaganda was also useful for informational purposes:
“Lose lips sink ships” for example regarding the need for secrecy.

Also, as you said, it was helpful in demonstrating to people why many sacrifices (rationing of food and consumer goods) were necessary.

I also agree that it seemed everyone (for the most part) was onboard with the war effort: the press, Hollywood, etc.

The pro-WWII propaganda which the U.S. engaged in seems to have been pretty effective, though actively measuring 'efficacy' is a real problem, that would be a good example of the latter approach.

I’m not sure what level of pro- ww2 propaganda there was before The Pearl Harbor attack, or how effective that it was, but my impression is that once news of that hit the radios, you didn’t really need much propaganda to convince people on the need to go to war. The heavy lifting of convincing people was done once the attack was announced.
IIrC there was only one Congressman that voted against a declaration of war.
Pre WW2 Hollywood was already helping out withe films:

Buck Privates is a 1941 musical military comedy film that turned Bud Abbott and Lou Costello into bona fide movie stars. It was the first service comedy based on the peacetime draft of 1940. The comedy team made two more service comedies before the United States entered the war (In the Navy and Keep 'Em Flying). A sequel to this movie, Buck Privates Come Home, was released in 1947. Buck Privates is one of three Abbott and Costello films featuring The Andrews Sisters, who were also under contract to Universal Pictures at the time.

Abbott and Costello performed a radio adaptation of the film on the Lux Radio Theater on October 13, 1941.

I was only 5 at the time but films pre war2 were usually anti isolationist.

Don't remember the American Bund but it had a large following, died out following Germany's declaration of war.

A couple hundred guys marching around in the dark with tiki torches is not an indication that 200 million white Americans are Nazis.

Of course not. But the interesting question how different are the Anerica First ver. 1.0 and the current America First ver. 2.0?

It isn't an "interesting" question. It is a tiresomely stupid question; about as much interest as hearing a three year old ask "why" to everything.

It is a stupid question.
You bring up Lindbergh as a Nazi sympathizer.

Who is the Putin sympathizer in what you insist is a modern replay of that which previously happened in Europe?

Is it the guy who imposed sanctions on Russia?
Is it the guy cajoling the NATO partners to spend more on defense to counter the threat of Russia?
Is it the guy who sold more weapons to Ukraine to counter Putin’s little green men?
Is it the guy making multi-billion dollar PATRIOT missile sales to Putin’s neighbors (Sweden & Poland)?
Is it the guy who backed the utter destruction of several hundred Russian mercenaries in Syria?

Because if that guy is supposed to be Putin’s friend, then he is doing a piss poor job at it.

Project Fear has been shown up to be total garbage once again, with unemployment falling by 65,000 between April and June this year.

That means unemployment is now at its lowest for 40 years.

Is this the sort of 'doom and gloom' that had been predicted for Brexit UK?
