If Putin was funding sojourns to Russian universities to Europeans, and outright stating it was to encourage Russophilia amongst the European youth, you'd be the first to bitch.

It would take much more than that. Perhaps two hookers in Ritz-Carlton in Moscow would help for one night. But it would not buy a lasting loyalty for sure. ;)

Some presumed undergrad student was doing a survey comparing Brexit/Remain votes to where people sit on the political compass. Blue is Leave, red is Remain.

No averages given, but my own eyes tell that the average blue vote is more authoritarian-right than red vote.
